Hi All,
I am in serious need of a new pediatrician and office! I do not like the one I am currently taking my son. Our next visit is his 2 year check up. Everytime I leave this place, it takes me a day to recover as to why I take my child there! It feels like a factory where your child is just a number and dollar sign. The nurses don't even acknowledge my son when he comes in. The pediatrician rarely talks to him as well! I'm looking for a place where I feel my son is valued and his health is a priority. Also, vaccines are important to me, but I do have concerns on a few of them and have insisted on spacing them out. The clinic keeps pushing unnecessary vaccines on my son and forgets my concerns. HELP! I would appreciate if any of you have found a wonderful pediatrician and office!

What can I do next?

I love willowcreek pediatrics. We see Dr. Michelle Chamberlain. She is great always gives us so much time and is very friendly to me and my kids. I also know they have an office in Draper. Go to www.wasatchpeds.net and they will show you all of their locations. Each office has wonderful docs.

I also take my kids to Holladay Pediatrics. They are wonderful doctors (I've seen every one of them & there isn't a bad one in the bunch). The only thing I will add to the other post about them is that Jed Vandenberghe is a great doctor - no doubt (I know him personally & he's a great person too), but his office is not quite as well run as Holladay Pediatrics. You will have a much longer wait time in a squishier space with Vandenberghe. When we go to Holladay Pediatrics, I have never had more than a 5 minute wait in the waiting room and maybe another 5 in the room before the doctor comes in (in 6 years of going there with 3 different kids). Everyone there - from the office staff to the nurses to the doctors are great. They work that office like a well-oiled machine and they treat you very well & really listen to your concerns. When I've had to see Vandenberghe, it has been a very good experience as well, but the wait time is MUCH longer. My good friend, who loved him as a doctor, finally had to switch because it was just taking way too long to get in to see him.

It's a long drive for you, but if you decide to go to Holladay Pediatrics, message me with what kind of doctor you're most comfortable with & I can help you decide which doctor to see. They have 5 doctors & I've seen them all. I am comfortable with all of them, but there is a wide variety of personalities between them and I recognize that different people will feel more comfortable with different styles. Good luck!

It's not very close to you, but I take my kids up to Holladay (we live out past Ut Lake, so not close to us either! lol) to see Jed Vandenberghe. Absolutely worth nearly an hour drive for us! His office is amazing, his staff is wonderful and I really cannot say enough good about him. Through all the normal ups and downs of our kids (we have 8, 11yrs and younger), to serious health concerns of our special needs child, he is always on the ball, and remembers little details about our children even after not seeing them for a while. In fact as we recently took our new baby in to see him he commented on how he looks like one of our others did as a baby....7yrs ago. I was amazed that he remembered.
He practices solo, but works with the Holladay Pediatrics group where there are some great drs to back him up when he isn't there.
I have a few friends who have also switched to take their kids to him-one is very much a by the book traditional kind of parent, to another who I consider "super crunchy" (no vax, attachment parenting), whereas I sit kind of in the middle of the them all....it speaks volumes to me that we all feel respected and supported by him in our parenting choices!

I live in West Jordan, too. I take my boys all the way down in Orem to Utah Valley Pediatrics and Dr. Cornish. The office is in the building right next to Timpanogos Regional Hospital. The 30 minute drive is completely worth it. Dr. Cornish is the only doctor I've found who doesn't treat me like I'm an idiot who wouldn't understand what he says. He listens, he tells me why he agrees or disagrees, and he leaves ultimate decisions up to me. My boys LOVE him. We're constantly interrupted by the boys asking him questions and he always answers them, explains what he's doing when checks out their ears, throat, heart, and lungs, let's them listen to their hearts and his, gives them high fives, and even let's them sit on his lap while we're talking. My oldest has asthma. I went through three doctors trying to get them to try something new that would work to control it; everyone kept saying he was too young to diagnose, that he couldn't possibly have asthma, or that allergy meds should do the trick. It wasn't until we went to Dr. Cornish that we actually figured out what exactly was wrong and how to treat it. My son can run around without having coughing fits now!
And the nurses! I have yet to meet a mean nurse there; or even an inattentive one. They all smile at my boys and say how cute they are when we walk by. They're so nice when it comes to shots, too.
The people at the front desk are wonderful. The waiting room is large and kid friendly. The exam rooms are so inviting. It's the best place I've found for my boys.
I know it's a long way to drive, but considering how amazingly they take care of us I think it's worth every minute.
Good luck!

I am not sure where you go now but I take my 2 boys to Southpoint Pediatrics. They are 9071 South 1300 West, Suite 301, phone ###-###-####. I used to take them to Wasatch Pediatrics and it was too far away and I felt the doctor just didn't really listen to me. But with Southpoint I have really enjoyed all the doctors there. My doctor is Leslie Goodwin but when she is too full, I have seen the other doctors in the clinic. They all have been really good to my boys. Good luck in finding a new peditrician.

again is a bit of a drive but I love Dr. Suzanne Holbrook at Alpine Pediactrics. They are located Immediatly south of Salt Lake Regional. Send me a message if you would like their number.

They always remember (i'm sure she reveiws the file before comming in but still) past concerns, she's very down to earth on vaccines- always asks if we want them, and is willing to discuss.... Also her nurse is absolutely awesome!
