Canon Rebel G is great, and digital camera reviews are on a website called DPreview.com My photography instructor recommended both ~
Good Luck :-)
I am in the market for a new digital camera. My current one takes a lot of out of focus pictures and seems to take an eternity to actually capture a moment. I feel like I am missing great shots! Any reccomendations would be appreciated!!!

I had the same problem. I bought a Canon Power Shot A620 and love it. I did research and it got a lot of good reviews.
A friend just bought a new camera and on the recommendation of a another friend who is a photographer bought a Canon EOS Rebel XT (8.2 megapixel) with the basic lens (18-55mm).
Wish I could afford a camera like that!
J.,
We recently got a new digital camera ourselves and I really like it, it's a Nikon Coolpix 7900. Having a new camera makes such a difference in the quality of pictures you end up with!
We went to Wolfe Camera and they were very helpful - but when I got home from ordering it from Wolfe I went to ebay and found a brand new one with a lot of extras (i.e., extra battery, carrying case, mini-stand for timed pictures, cord for connecting to the computer to download, photo card reader to hook into the computer, memory card, and a few other things) that was much less expensive than the price at Wolfe for just the camera and battery. I cancelled my order with Wolfe and got the one on ebay and it has been fantastic. So, if you were looking to spend a little less money, I would definitely recommend looking on ebay, just be sure if you get one from there it is brand new in the box.
Good luck on choosing one! C.
Hi J.,
I bought the Canon PowerShot G6. It's a great camera. It's a 7.1 MP digital camera. I have taken some INCREDIBLE pictures with it. My dad is an award winning photographer, and I have learned from him that nothing beats the Canon when it comes to quality. This is a fairly expensive camera. When I bought mine (a year ago maybe) it cost about $800 or $850. But it's well worth the price. If you're looking for something not so expensive and slightly downgraded on quality, I would recommend getting a Nikon. Don't be fooled by these high MP cameras by Polaroid, or Kodak for really cheap prices...you get what you pay for when it comes to consumer electronics...and that's the truth. I did have a Nikon 3.2 MP (before they had 5 MP cameras even!!) and I LOVED it. It was a cool, sleek, small design, with a really cool swivel lens, etc. It was one of their "CoolPix" cameras. But that camera is obsolete now due to newer and better technology. If you want to have REALLY nice photos, and a very nice camera, I would stick with Canon, and Nikon if you can't afford the Canon's.

P.S. I could email you some pictures I took with my Canon...I am not an award winning photographer like my dad!! But I don't have to be with this camera to take good pics!!! Let me know, and I will send some:)
If you go to Wolf Camera they are great at helping you find what is best for you, your needs, and your budget. A lot of the people working there, at least at the Camp Bowie location in Fort Worth, are actually professional photographers. You also get free classes at Ritz University at Wolf Camera locations when you buy a camera there. The classes are great! They help you get your camera off auto and help you take better pictures! That and the classes help you learn all the new gadgets on your new camera. This way you can find what fits you the best. I LOVE mine from there but I use it for personal and business so it might not be best for YOU. This is why I defiantly recommend going to Wolf Camera.
OH! I just thought of something. . .DUH on my part! Also take your current camera with you as you may not need to buy a new one! It might be something as simple as putting your camera off auto and onto a differnet setting where the shutter speed is faster so you have less blur and wait time. It might just save you a few hundred dollars!
I have three digital cameras that I use for a number of things... what you really want to do is go to a camera store and check out the different brands. Don't get something just because someone says they like it... go hold it in your hand... see if you like the feel of it... and remember... if you go on vacation, you'll be lugging that thing around.. is it the size you want to carry, etc. Just be sure you explain to the store personnel what types of shots you want to capture with your camera.... so that they can recommend a low and high range of camera foryou to try.
(lol) We just bought a new digital for our fifth anniversary, for exactly all those reasons. Husband did a LOT of review reading, etc., and finally decided on the Canon EOS Rebel XT. When we went to the store to buy it, he decided to upgrade to the EOS Rebel XTi, which was so new on the market that it they had to get it out from under the cabinet, it wasn't even on the floor yet. It has 10-something megapixels, boots up in less than a second, takes like three pictures a second (under ideal conditions), and has a large display window so you're not squinting at the photo you just took to see if it's worth keeping. And I LOVE that when I push the button, it takes the picture I'm looking at with now delay!!! Get more than one battery so you can always have one charging while the other is in use. We got some extra memory too.
Hope this helps!
We have had the Sony CyberShot 5 mega pixel for 3 years now. We love it and would buy another one in a heartbeat but with a higher mega pixel. My husband has researched the new Cannon's, but the one we like is upwards of $1,000 plus. Not for us right now.
I know what you mean about missing great shots. I used to do that too, but I had mine set on the wrong shutter speed. After we played around with it one evening on different settings trying to capture stupid, practice pictures of our dog, we found the right setting and have not had a problem in about a year and a half.
Before spending the money on a new one, have some one check yours first. Wolfe is the best place to take it, or if you are close to Arlington, then take it to Arlington Camera.
Totally Awesome Camera
