K have several questions but will try to do one per post with a little space in between. This one - I am so overwhelmed. Pregnant with a rough start, today I find out if I have to have shots on a daily basis, mother in the hospital possibly at the end of her fight with stage 4 lung cancer - no never smoked, dad waiting to find out if his Luekemia is back, car killed over so had to get another one and taking on car payment although luckily not too high AND HOUSE GETTING WORSE. Still lots of floor space but laundry building up we do a load of dishes only to feel like there is another load waiting. i do a lot of events at the church where I use decorations from my house. When I come home some of it gets put up some sits in a corner for later. I clean as fast as I can, husband works an hour away so by the time he gets home he tries to help where he can but it's slowly creeping up. I even took all of our laundry to a wash and fold place so it was one less thing for me to do. I could really use someone coming in to help clean not sure how often but not sure if we can afford it. was unemployed for almost 2 years only to finally get a job making less than unemployment. I have recently gotten a job working part time but making more than my previous full time so we are inching our way up to where everything is paid on time with some money left over. So with all that venting now the question. What is reasonable amount for someone to come in on a regular basis maybe once or twice a month, help with laundry, dishes, and bathrooms. I don't mind running the vacuum and mopping when the rest of the house is clean I just haven't been able to get to it as often as I would like here recently with everything going on. I've looked at some of the larger companies and out of price range and do more than I think I need. Want to put a posting for to hire someone but what's reasonable?

What can I do next?

It's summer time so maybe you can hire a teenager to help once a week or so. I would think that would be cheaper than an agency. Or maybe you can hire her to babysit (if you have other kids) so you have a little free time to focus on the house. Can you team up with another Mommy and take turns watching each others kids once in awhile?

I have a woman, who's since become a friend come in and clean my home every other week. She cleans 1 full bath and 2 - 1/2 baths, kitchen (sink, appliances, floors, countertops), she dusts and vacuums and mops the wood and tile floors and makes up the bed with clean sheets. She does NOT put stuff away or do laundry (although she's offered, I don't mind doing it myself). She's at my house for 3 hours and I pay her $60

When she cleans the upstairs too (2 complete baths and 3 bedrooms and a game room that she only dusts and vacuums) I pay her $80 cause it only takes her an extra hour. So it'd be $20 an hour. Yes, it's a bit high, but there's no benefits and she has to pay her own taxes and medical. Lots of companies charge close to $30 an hour. I'm sure if you asked your friends/neighbors, they'd be able to recommend someone looking to fill in a space on their schedule. You'll also know who's good and who's not trustworthy. That's how I found mine.

There was a time when I was regularly answering ads from Craig's list, as well as cleaning the home of one of my neighbors, and another gentleman's home that a friend introduced me to. If you put an ad on craigslist I would offer 10$ an hour with a 3 hour minimum to make it worth the trip for someone who may not live close by. Make a list of what all that you want done and imagine loosely how long it should take.
And as someone said in an earlier answer, the church may be a great resource. When I was pregnant my church had a couple of ladies make some casseroles etc, and asked how they could help. So you may get someone just looking for a way to serve if you talk to someone there and explain your situation. Good Luck!

I pay $60 every two weeks for three hours of cleaning. So about $20 an hour.

So sorry to hear about your parents and your other stresses. Along with the hormone craziness of pregnancy, it sounds like you need some time for you. Is there a youth group at your church? Ask the youth leader if there is a responsible young gal who would like to earn some money. I would offer $10/hour. It's more than minimum wage and many teens are unable to find work these days.

Also, get out and go for a walk. Even if it is just 15 min. You will need some breathing time for yourself to keep you and the baby healthy.
