Have you seen a ruematologist (sp?)? One of my best friends has fibromyalgia. She is in constant pain and one of the best things for her to do is some form of yoga or thai chi.
Would like to hear from others with Fibromyalgia . I find that many Dr.'s know little about this complex condition .I have tried various treatments , but nothing seems to work for long . Would love to hear how others are coping , and new ideas on modes of treatment .

Hi B.~
I am 25 years old and I have been diganosed with Fibromyalgia. It is not very much fun. I have been having symptoms since I was 14 years old. When I played sports in school my legs would hurt and bruises would just show up on my legs. My neck would hurt badly and back too.
I have learned that walking is important for people with fibromyalgia, yet I hurt ALOT after a long walk. It's hard to lift my legs the next day. A hot water bottle helps with pain sometimes and other times I use an ice pack. There is alot of natural medicine to treat Fibromyalgia. Have you heard of Swanson health products? They have a toll free number
(1-800-437-4148) 24 hours a day and a website www.swansonvitamins.com
You should check it out and see if you would like to try something new. Hope you feel better

My moms best friend has fibromyalgia and she uses cherry extract mixed with something else. It can be any other liquid, as long as you drink it. She does this once a day with an eight ounce glass, and she said it works wonders.
My cousin is a specialist that deals with fibromyalgia. She also suffers from the disease. Her book is called Fibromyalgia Relief through Movement, Her name is Stacey Bigelow. I have heard that the simple techniques she gives seem to help. I also have 2 different friends that where wrongly diagnosed with fibro...for years my friend suffered from the same symptoms as fibro and it ended up being an allergy to wheat. She was sometimes crippled from the symptoms and after cutting wheat out of her diet she is more active than she has ever been. Besides wheat..soy allergies can also give similar symptoms..Good luck.. I can't imagine the pain. My cousin describes it as your mucles are like cement..My best wishes to you...
Hi B.,
I use to work for several doctors who believe that you treat fibromyalgia with anti-inflammatoris, muscle relaxors, and intense physical therapy. They completely felt that doing the conservative treatment was very benefical. This diagnosis is very hard to seek other treaments because a lot of doctors do not know much about it or do not believe that it exists. I know that this is not much and I am sure you have tried most of everything but if not go for therapy and get on a daily exercise like Yoga. Good Luck.
I have had it for more than 7 yrs. I am 43 and have a 5 yr. old and 16 yr. old. I manage it with exercise and no drugs! Most of the drugs had odd side effects that I couldn't handle and the anti depressant made me really sick. I take one Simply Sleep at night to help me stay asleep and I try to exercise regularly. Stretching is very important. A rheumatologist should be able to help but be careful w/the meds! A chiropractor also helped me when I had back and neck issues....he actually knew more than the regular Dr. Massage helps some people and I have heard great things about acupuncture! I took physical therapy when first diagnosed at a Pain clinic....it helped tremendously .....just remember not to do too much on any one day but keep moving everyday!
My biggest problem is with the fibro fog that sets in some days and makes it so difficult to concentrate. I am a single mom and some days I just know not to get in the car and drive too much or not to tackle a big project or balance the checkbook! lol
My daughter has it too and was diagnosed at 14....we are hoping it burns itself out in a couple of years. Good luck. Try to keep stress to a minimum! Deep breathing, yoga and pilates can help too!

I am 23 years old and have had symptoms for years before being diagnosed at the age of 18. It hurts and it sucks, but I live with it. I have two beautiful children and I find ways to deal with it. I need people to talk to so if you ever want to talk, let me know.
