Hey Moms! I need to find a great pediatrician for my boys, a great office staff and nurses are essential too. I live in West Fort Worth, near the White Settlement area. I am not happy with my current pediatrician, well, he's ok, but I am having problems with the staff.

I recently brought my 3 year old in. I called the nurse and she told me to bring him in. I told her that my husband just started a new job and won't get paid till the 20th of June (this was the first part of June). She told me I could just write a post dated check for the visit. I told the girl when checking in AND checking out that I would need to postdate it for the 20th and they said ok, they would set it aside.
Ok, so a couple of weeks later, I find out that the check was put through, and sure enough, it bounced. I called the Dr. Office and told them about it. The girl I gave the check to was on vacation, so I talked to the Mgr. She basically called me a liar and said that had if it had been postdated, it wouldn't have been put through the bank. I argued that it WAS postdated, and asked her what they charge for returned checks. She said $30, I told her I shouldn't have to pay that. So after much convincing, she told me she would waive the $30, but there was nothing she could do about the NSF fee to MY bank. She suggested I call back when the girl came back from vacation to ask if she would pay me $25 out of her own pocket.
Yesterday the girl who took my check called and said she just found out what happened. She says she doesn't remember the whole situation and that I would have to show her the actual copy of the check in order to get the $30 waived. I told her the girl I talked to told me that she had already put in my account that I would NOT have to pay the $30. So then the manager gets on the phone and tells me I have to show proof of the check and was very rude to me. She said she told me then that they would only waive the $30 IF I proved it was written for the 20th. Anyway, the whole time they were both being very snotty to me and I just didn't care for their unprofessionalism.
Well guess what, I called my bank and they have the copy of the check and they said it very clearly says 6-20 on there. So yes, I was right. Yet I still have to pay the returned check fee to my bank, even though it wasn't my fault. AND I found out that they submitted the check TWICE, meaning my returned check fees are $50. I called the manager back and told her that and she still argued with me saying that they're not responsible for paying that $50 to me, even though it was their fault. And then she told me I could find a new pediatrician and she would mail my medical records to me. I told her it sounds like they care more about the money than the actual patients, since we have been going there for 4 years and we have always had a zero balance.
She even agreed that the whole time I was never rude, vicious, or even raised my voice. So why then am I not allowed to go back there over one disagreement?
Grrrrr. This isn't the first time something like this has happened with this office, that is why I want to move on to where they care just a little bit about families!
Dr. Deborah Vert is also a great pediatrician. She is in a Cooks Children's office located off of I-20 and Trail Lake/Woodway Dr. She is great with children and I have never had a problem with her staff. My daughter has been going there for about 4 years.
I'm in with the same group (ft worth pedi) and use Dr. Halpenny. He's great and I got recommended to him by the nursery nurses at the hospital I work at.
I personally adore Dr. Jeff Rogers off of University Dr. He cracks me up and has a very simple approach to child care. Also, his wife and father are in the practice which I find comforting.

Hi L., I just had to write to you, I feel so badly for what happened - I've been there (ok 20 years ago!) but I would encourage you to speak with your doctor if you like him/her because they need to know how you were treated! Most doctors are in the business of caring for people not ripping them off! They should know how their staff is treating people for sure.

My pediatrician is Julee Morrow, near Harris Southwest--WONDERFUL! I do not know if she is accepting new patients though.
About your situation--your old doctor needs to know about the situation. You may not return to that practice but if you had no problems witht he doc, he should be aware of what's happening out front. Write a letter, marking it 'confidential'. He may choose to do nothing but if it's a pattern with his staff he may.
I go to Fort Worth Pediatrics near the hospitals. All the docs are good there.
Sorry for the confusion we use Cooks Children Forest Park off 30 and University. We go to Dr. Mercer he is great and so is all the other doctors in the practice. They have extended hours now until 7 p.m. and are open for a short time Sat. and Sun. (which is great saves trips to the E.R.). I am not sure how well they work with people about payments, but I would think they could just bill you if that situation should arise again.
We love Fort Worth Pediatric All the drs are great its over by Harris Southwest.
I'm sorry that happened. Maybe you can try to speak to the doctor and inform him/her about his staff. If they refuse to let you speak to him/her, tell them your contacting BBB and any other med. associations you can find.
We have been very happy with our doctors office. We've been there for 6 years and have never had any problems as such. When we were on hard times they worked very well with us and even were able to wave the fees. They are part of the Cooks Childrens Phasician Network. We go to the dr office located inside the Child Study Center on 7th st. and Hwy 30. It's a good drive for us (would probably be closer for you) but we love it there. Anytime my kiddos are sick I call and they have always managed to work us in.

I'm not sure if you've found a doctor yet. I know you can't mention your old doctor's name. My daughter's doctor is Stanley Elliott, with Fort Worth Pediatrics.
His address is 1533 Merrimac Circle, right off of University (across the street from Chili's) His number is ###-###-####. I've always had good experiences with him. His staff is fine, but I continue going because my daugther ENJOYS going to the doctor, even for shots. It's definitely "kid friendly" and Dr. Elliott always makes my daughter feel special. Hopefully this wasn't your doctor.
His staff is large and for the most part caring and attentive. Good Luck in your search.

Thats horrible, its so crazy how people are acting now a days. Especially at peds. offices, i'm sure its cause they deal with screaming kids all day arguing parents and what not.. But hey to bad right? Its your job, I'm sorry that your having a bad, it doesn't give you the right to make mine the same. Sorry but peoples attitudes are getting crazy!!
Anyways we go to see Dr. Levine, off of Montogomery and 7th Street. Really any of the doctors in that office are really good! Good luck!!
