The only way to help prevent ear infections is to stop laying her down with a bottle...period. Not only is it damaging her ears, but it's also putting her teeth at risk. She's also too young to be sleeping on a pillow. I would recommend putting nothing but plain water in her bottle at night or naps. She might not like it, but you need to put her health first and she'll eventually either get used to only having water or she'll stop needing the bottle. Good luck!

No bottles of milk in bed, that is what will help stop the infections. You might be surprised that she will sleep easier if she isn't constantly running an ear infection. My nephew had chronic ear infections for over 2 years, and sucking was one of his main sources of comfort and pain relief (he used a pacifier). If she isn't hurting, she might not need to suck on a bottle. A pillow isn't going to make a difference, the milk is still pooling in her ear canal from falling asleep drinking it. Give her the bottle sitting up slightly in a chair while you rock her, then put her in bed. It's going to take work to retrain her and change her sleep routine, but your child's hearing and speech development is at risk, not to mention her comfort and happiness.

See a chiropractor to see if she needs an adjustment. My baby nephew had so many ear infections that they wanted to put tubes in his ears to drain the fluid out. As a last resort, my sis went to a chiropractor and he adjusted him one time and no more infections. If she was a forceps delivery, the chiropractor said this kind of delivery commonly causes ear infections.

I agree with the other posters....no bottles in bed! Give her the bottle in a rocking chair or sitting up before you put her in the crib and be sure to brush her teeth (with infant toothpaste) before you lay her down. Not only is this causing her ear infections, but it is also going to cause major problems with her teeth. Try a new bedtime routine that does not involve putting her to bed with a bottle and I am certain you will see the ear infections clear up. Best of luck!

Don't give her the bottle in bed. You are teaching her that she is in control not you. You are helping her form bad habits.
Plus yes it can lead to ear infections and tooth rot.

She needs to be sitting completely upright when drinking a bottle. Lying down - even on a pillow - is pouring milk right into her eustachian tubes and causing ear infections.
