How about some fruit like grapes and strawberries? I don't think goldfish or fruit snacks would be tacky. You're giving snacks appropriate for kids and adults. You can also get some animal crackers and pretzels for the kids.
My daughters bday party is this weekend and i need help with snack ideas. The party is from 230 till 500. We are having a fire truck and the kids are going to be playing games and doing activities. I stated on the invitation that snacks, beverages and cupcakes will be served. So I am buying juice boxes, bottled water and soda for drinks, then salsa, spinach dip, and veggie tray for parents, We have had 50+ people RSVP so far 1/2 of those are kids. I was thinking of buying goldfish, cheese and crackers, and fruit snack, would this be tacky or appropriate? I figure then what ever is left over wont go to waste, cause my daughter can have them for snacks later on. I owuld hate to buy a lot and then the kids are too busy to eat and I have to throw out, which is why I was thinking if the snack packs. Let me know what you think or if you have any other suggestions.

This is not at all tacky. Fresh fruit, cheese & crackers? Sounds perfect.
veggie tray and fruit trays would be great.. the leftovers can also be snacks, and salads..
chex mix, gold fish, simple cracker snacks will be sufficient.
meatballs are good too!
I think a fruit tray and veggie tray would be great for the kids. If they are 4 years old, you can also have them string cheerios or similar cereal on curling ribbon to make necklaces that they can eat.
My son just had this 8th birthday, and as a treat in the goodie bags I dipped pretzel rods in chocolate and rolled them in sprinkles. The kids LOVED them and the parents all thought they were a great idea. They are inexpensive and very quick and easy to make. All you need is the pretzel rods, chocolate chips and sprinkles.
i always make a watermelon basket, its pretty and good for them
At that age i always made a "goody bag" "sack lunch" type thing with the child's name on it, and the juice boxes and snacks are in them so if they don't eat it they get to take it home, in the motif of the theme. I once did little garbage cans, chinese take out containers....This helps with shy kids and also helps stay organized during the party...you don't have to worry about if you have enough of this or that and where it would be, so you can pay attention to the kids/grownups at all times. we had kids any age make necklaces out of fruit loops and thin licorice, peanut butter inside of celery is always a hit too.
Sounds perfectly appropriate to me! Chex mix is always a big hit too :) Or pop a bag or two of popcorn! Have fun!
I have done up a fruit tray for kids at parties and they absolutely love it. I have done this at all my birthday parties for my kids. fruit tray and or fruit salad. Have some bananas though, as that is the favorite fruit among all the kids I have had come to the birthday parties. I started this around 3 years old for both my kids. I have also done the goldfish. On the fruit, I would just get the fruit and cut it up though, the fruit snacks have too many additives in them. With so many RSVPs. I would go with making the fruit salad in a huge bowl and then the goldfish. Could do up some jello and cut it into squares. That is fun as well. In the past, most of the kids at the parties I have had have been too busy playing to pay much attention to the snacks.
