Hi, i work in an office that is open 3 days a week and needs a reliable person to answer phones, schedule appointments, assistothers with various tasks, etc. I want someone who is friendly smart and will be there long term and help me grow my business. I just worry about putting an ad in the paper because i feel like not many people are interested in part time work. Especially since my office is open MWF from 9-1and 3-7.
Are there moms out there who want this kind of job? Is this something only high sxhoolers will do?

What can I do next?

I would do the 9 -1. I live in Wylie. I do not know where you are located. I have a Masters Degree, but part time would be great for me. Email me at ____@____.com if you are interested.

Contact:

Local Churches - see if they post jobs for their members.

Collin County Community College, UNT, NCTC - they will off a career office that posts jobs for students looking for work while in School. There may be students that would work those days and go to school on T TH or take night classes.

Senior Centers - May have retirees interested in working part time.

Personally, I would be interested in a part time job after my kids go to school. I'm not ready to go back to work though. I'm a mom of a 2 yr old and a 6 yr old.

What college/jr college is near you? I bet there would be plenty of college kids that would love those hours since they could go to school Tues and Thurs. Good luck!

I believe there would be interest in that. Gees, I work at home running my company and substitute teach and I would still like to do something like that. I love the subbing because it gets me out of the house and is a little extra pocket change monthly.

I believe your time slot of 9-1 would be the most desirable because it is perfect for a mom with children in school. The 3-7 would be harder, maybe need a college student, etc because that time frame falls into all the afterschool activities and dinner for SAHM's.

I would target the groups I felt that would be most interested vs an ad on CL, etc. Check with the PTA at your school, church, groups you are involved with, Collin County Community College (Frisco and Plano).

You might try a temp agency as well. I also work with Volt in Frisco and they are a good company.

Best of luck to you!

Actually, if my DD was in full-day school, the 9-1 would be just about perfect. I would put it out there and see if there are community resources that target parents. There are a lot of moms and dads who might be looking for PT work in the fall and then in the summer they can arrange for other childcare for just a few months. You might also target the local college or contact the HS guidance offices - my SD will have to work PT to afford things in school.

Right now a lot of people are looking into getting into or getting back to a routine, so your timing is good, IMO. Put it out there. You'll probably have a lot of interest and can choose from the best. Good luck!

Post it on Craigslist, it has a 'part time' section. Good Luck

Hi A.,

Absolutely, you will have interest in those hours. The morning hours will be especially interesting to moms and the afternoon hours would be perfect for someone in high school. You might try posting on facebook in the various mothers groups such as Frisco Moms. I would post in all your networking groups as well. School will be starting before you know it. The counselors may have someone in mind. Happy hunting!

Definitely adverstise, you don't know each individual's circumstances, I bet there are a lot of unemployed poeple that would be interested, too.

You just have to first screen the resumes, then do a 5 min phone interview to have a short list, then extend an interview to select 3. Treat it like it's a corporate job and job interview, you will weed out the not serious candidates that way.

Although some have recommended that you reach out to college kids, I recommend you go with someone more mature who is looking to do the work for you as a job and not as a temp job, otherwise you are continuously hiring new person and training them.

I do a lot of hiring at my job and I would be happy to help you out with writing your ad and interview questions.
