K.,
I believe this is the same thing I had, fissures right? I had the same thing after the birth of my son and was in so much pain that it hurt to have a BM and it would bleed and hurt for hours to where I was crying. I went to a military doctor, I'm in the AF, and she diagnosed me and had me try some creams and stuff but they didn't work, so they ended up doing a lateral sphincterotomy on me. It was about a one hour surgery, and it turned out I had 2 fissures inside. But they basically gave me a spinal and gave me some sleepy medicine and then they went in there somehow and made some incisions with the nerves so that it wouldn't hurt and would allow them to heal. I was in a lot of pain after but only for that day and it was uncomfortable that week but by the next week I was shopping. They also had me take about 3ozs of mineral oil before I went to bed everynight so that the next day when I had to have a BM, it slid right out (hate to be blunt) and they made sure I was keeping up the fiber and all that. That was back in December that I had that and I haven't had any problems since. If you have questions you can email me at ____@____.com luck!
I've heard of it - in fact I caused it for my mother! Get the treatment by your doctor - it will all work out just fine I'm sure. Happens to a lot of women nationally - just maybe not around here by coincidence.
I am a doula and have heard of them but do not have great knowledge about them. they are rather rare in the us , and from my understanding are due from prolonged pushing agisnt gravity ) how most women give birth in this country: on their backs.I have not studied it, but I can suggest that you might want to call debbie ( a midwife ) at the hollywood birth center. if you need her informtion you can email me and I will help you contact her. I am at palmbeachdoula.com . I wish you well.

I heard about this on Oprah. If its the same thing, does it mean that labor is so intense and your pushing so hard that your insides are torn. You are unable to hold urine or bowel movements?? Please forgive me if it sounds 'nasty'....Alot of young women over in Africa are affected by this, especially in young age..You might want to go to Oprah site and see what you can find.
