Need Ideas for Couple's Weekend in Phoenix

My husband's parents have graciously offered to have our 3 and 4 yr old boys (plus two of their cousins) play and sleep over at their house this weekend. We're really looking forward to a night off from parental duties but it's been almost 5yrs since we were able to go out and do stuff on our own without a time restriction and we're at a loss as to what to do! Haha! On our rare date nights we usually go to dinner and maybe a movie but since we have basically a day and a half alone, we'd like to make the most of it by doing some activities that are more grown-up oriented like going to a comedy club or concert. We're in the NW valley/Glendale but we're willing to drive a bit if it's for something fun or interesting. Any activity ideas or places you can suggest?? Thanks in advance!! :)

Grab a New Times on Thursday morning and see what appeals. Maybe there is a concert or art exhibition you'd like to check out. For food I'd go exotic since 3 and 4 year olds tend not to be the most adventurous eaters. You can search restaurant recommendations at Yelp.com by cuisine for say Thai or Jamaican. Have fun!

Check out the local resorts. There are some AMAZING deals on 5 star resorts here in the Valley during the summer.

Go to Sedona - amazing, breathtaking sights and scenery, hiking, Jeep tours, shopping, Slide Rock - it's only a 2 hour drive tops. Or stay overnight at one of the amazing resorts PHoenix has to offer - JW Marriott, The Princess, Sanctuary on Camelback...

There is the Arizona Broadway Theatre ( behind Target, Arrowhead Mall area). It is a dinner theatre. I haven't been there, but a friend of mine was and had a good time. I'm sure you'd be able to google them to find out what is showing. Also, there is the new Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) at Mayo Blvd & 101 (south side). I saw in the paper that they have concerts there as well. Hope you find something fun to do that you enjoy!

You lucky girl you! Well, years ago when my girls were young my dad offered to watch them overnight, so we were kind of in your situation. We ended up making a reservation at the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale. It was the best, most relaxing (and needed) get away, without being too far away. We booked a couple of spa treatments, had an amazing dinner and walked the grounds. We floated in the lazy river and sat under a cabana. It was the best and I highly recommend it!

Enjoy!

I was just going to post this question because my husband and I are going to be able to get away for a few days for the first time without our kids. I think I can't wait :) Does anybody have any ideas of how to find the best rate at the local resorts here in Phoenix? The travel sites have different rates than the hotel sites and there are some online deals. I just want a good idea of what to say or how to find the best rates especially since we are going to book during the week Mon-Tues and it should hopefully be cheaper.
