I always go with an art kit then you dont have to worry; does she already have that toy? tell him to choose an art kit that says ages five and up on the box
Just remembered we have to attend a bday party for a 5-yr old girl today and I haven't bought a gift, yet! I don't know the family...the little girl is my son's classmate. Any SPECIFIC ideas? (I want to send my husband to Toys R Us, so I need to tell him exactly what to get. Haha!)
I'll spend up to $35.
Thanks!!
I sent him to Target to get a Lalaloopsy Silly Hair Doll. I've never seen them until now -- how cute! Thanks everyone!!

My daughter is into Barbie things. Art things are always cool. Like an art caddy with a bunch of different mediums, like chalk, paint, markers, water colors, stensils and so on.
Dress up clothes.
I would call really quick and see what the little girl is into. It helps me when I come up empty.
Littlest Pet Shop anything is always popular.
They have kits with different pets and the stuff that goes with it.
Webkinz was huge for my daughter at this age. It's a stuffed animal that comes with a code that you use on the computer and you can play with a matching virtual webkinz. You can play little games to earn coins to buy, clothes, food, pet supplies and such to take care of your animal. They are $15 a piece on average, so you could get 2 and they have every type of animal imaginable.
Thinking about it, that's what I would get. Webkinz.
The Lion King dvd/Blu Ray combo pack & a little Simba plush toy?
I was just thinking today how we have sooooo many toys, and for Christmas, I'm going to suggest craft things as gifts (painting supplies, an easel, etc.). I would bet that most 5 yr-old also have plenty of toys, so how about something like that that is "crafty"? Or maybe a couple of puzzles. $35 is very generous, I'm sure you can get something very nice! Oh, and someone suggested squinkies - they are a huge hit in our house!!
Whatever he ends up with just ask him to make sure he gets a gift receipt! ;) I like the idea of the Lion King DVD and Littlest Pet Shop. Lalaloopsy Dolls are also popular right now I think but I'm not sure how much those cost.
A cute small purse (adult would be fine, just a clutch size-better made that toy purses) with stickers, cute note pad, colored pens, maybe a dollar calculator, scented hand lotion, barrettes, purse sized tissues, and a little wallet/change purse. =)
Barbies or littlest pet shop are popular with this age. I tend to buy a craft type toy or a puzzle though. we are going to a party today and got this great decorate your own jewelry box(sturdy cardboard with peel and stick jewels) and these new bead things called Bizu. They make into pet inspired bracelets. My daughter who is almost 5 thought this gift was so cool. All together it was just about $20.00 and I found it all at target.
I think $35 is generous. I think you could get a couple of small things
listed below that would be a hit;
A Barbie
Dress up clothes or tiara, wand etc.
Small, cute purse
DVD
I had the same issue last week with my kindergartner! We got her friend a Webkinz stuffed animal and she really liked it. I have 3 girls and they all LOVE webkinz too. Good Luck
Art kit, tinker toys, magnetic building toys (forget the name), paints, books.
You can't go wrong with princess dress up clothes. My daughter is 5 and she's into that right now.
Barbies!!!!
Squinkies are a huge hit right now for that age!
Dress up clothes, shoes.
Girls that age are easy - a Barbie or Bratz doll or a craft kit that the age range shows her age. Any kind of craft kit - jewelry making, suncatchers, etc.
$35 in very generous, I'm sure you can find many things.
I would suggest books or games. Webkins are very popular right now.
My daughter doesn't like dolls. She'd rather have a boat, car or plane any day. For gifts for her classmates, I've been buying a pair of wood figure toys made by Holtztiger, like the princess and the frog prince, or two dinosaurs. If there is still more to spend, I toss in a pair of fun socks or a play silk scarf.
