I'm friends with an acquaintance (we don't chat, or much of anything.. I know her through my sister). Anyway, I was just "friended" by her today. I accepted it, and she opened up a conversation.. just general, then tried to tell me about some scam. So, I checked, and I am now friends with two of these people... the second one is obviously a scam account... just started, and has copied the profile picture and details.

Don't worry.. I won't fall for any scam they try to tell me about, or click on anything they send me.

Should I unfriend the scam one immediately? How can I report it? When I report it, they want to ask which account, and I haven't figured out how to tell them WHICH one it is.....

ETA: I did unfriend the fake one, and posted a note on the real account... someone else also posted a note on the real account... is there anything else I can do?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

ETA: The real person is not a scammer...... someone is copying her account information. I didn't know if there was some way to notify facebook of the scam name.

BLOCK all 3 of them. A little suspicious that the "acquaintance" mentions this first thing and all of a sudden you are friends with 2 scammers. Doesn't make sense so I would block them all and be done with it. Good luck.

Yes, unfriend the scam friend. NOW. Why would you want to be friends with a scam artist?

If you want to report it - you can - but you really won't get much of anything out of it. Facebook MIGHT remove the account - but it won't stop them from setting up another one.

So unfriend both so you don't get caught up in a spamming situation!

You can report it.

ETA - Sorry just saw how old this is! I have a friend who is often "spoofed" by a scammer.

I am FB friends with a handful of M.'s from this site (and a dad!), but that's it. Everyone else I know personally. Scamming is not my thing - so only accept people you know or you feel you know...then you'll be good to go.
