I'm in the market for a jogging stroller and I'd like to hear what others think about the features on their strollers (for example: fixed wheel vs. swivel wheel, handlebar heights, recommended brands/models, etc.)
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I have a Schwinn AL free-wheeler double (it comes in single too). It has an adjustable handle, and a swivel wheel that can lock. It gets great reviews and I love it. It pushes way better than my "baby-train" Graco. I've been jogging with it for a couple of months now and think it's great.

If you are going to be running, I highly recommend the Kool Stride by Kool Stop. I love it! It's got an adjustable handle bar, folds down flat (it takes a second to pop the wheels off), smooth ride, canopy, 5 point harness, reclines, and great storage. It's expensive but worth every penny. I started using it when my 4 y/o was 7 weeks and my 3 y/o still fits in it. Great investment if you are going to use it daily! Good luck with your search and your running.

I LOVE MY BOB!!! I have the Stroller Strides Double and absolutely love it!! It has the swivel front wheel that locks for jogging. When I only had 1 kid, I tried a few joggers, but after my second was born - I knew I wanted the Bob - and haven't regretted it since. It's a bit pricey, but figured I could sell it on Craig's list when I was done and recoup about 1/2 of what I spent. It's definitely worth the price!!!

I had 2 jogging strollers so far. One I got for my baby shower, a Tike Tech Trax 360 with a swivel wheel- it is a medium priced stroller and extremely pleasant to handle. The reason why I had to get it exchanged, was because of the swivel wheel. It started wobbling after about 3 months of use and it went so far that I was unable to use the stroller without locking the wheel. But their customer service is great and I got a new one very easy. The features I liked are: easy maneuvrability, fully reclining backrest, lots of pockets, big basket, easy steering. What I didn't like: swivel wheel, small canopy.
The other one I had and used for a while was an InStep with a swivel wheel as well, while the other one was in repair. I didn't like it as much, though it had bigger wheels. It just didn't run as smooth and had the same issue with the swivel wheel. The features I liked: big wheels (14"), snakctray for parent, roomy for the child. What I didn't like: swivel wheel, small canopy.

If I could buy one now, I'd buy a BOB, because it has the best absorption I've seen in a jogger and it has a couple other features, that I'd like to have in a jogger, like lots of room for the child, a big canopy, completely adjustable back rest and it runs soooo smooth!

We also have a Bob jogging stroller in navy blue and love it. It is so easy to push and is great for going on walks or taking anyplace outdoors. We did buy the handle bar cup holder/has a zip pocket to keep keys or phone. I also bought a bag that attaches to the handlebars for extra pockets. I have a 2 1/2yr., 3 1/2yr. old and 4 1/2yr. old and now we are looking to get the double Bob stroller for the 2 younger kids. I highly recommend this jogging stroller. Oh, it does take up some room in your car, but it folds in half very easily, and it is a bit on the heavy side. Hope this helps.

Hi L.,
I have the Bob Revolution and you can make the wheel fixed or swivel. I always have it on swivel, but I like being able to change it if I want. I really like it, but you need to buy accessories like the cup holder (for you up top). It was a shower gift and I use it whenever the weather is nice. I did notice that when my LO outgrew the infant car seat and I put him directly in the seat that there was not that much padding. I also bought a Kiddapotomus pad for that. It is pretty light, but I don't ever fold it up - I just leave it out in the garage ready to go since I use it so much. Also, the tires need to be pumped with air occasionally (2x so far in a year for me), but I think those kinds of tires along with the shocks really help the ride for you and your baby. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

I have to chime in for Baby Jogger. I've used the Performance (a true running stroller with fixed wheel) and it practically pushed itself.

I think the determining factor will be what you'll use the stroller for. Do you want it for strict outdoor use or will you also be using it indoors (in/out of your car). A fixed wheel is really only necessary if you are a serious runner and don't need something that's more manuverable.

Baby Jogger just came out with a new stroller called the Summit which is both a swivel and fixed wheel stroller. I don't have any experience with it but it looks cool. Plus you can't beat the Baby Jogger fold.

There is nothing better than the bob strollers. It is like pushing air! The shocks are fantastic (especially off road) and the steering with the swivel wheel is great. That option is good for walking.
The only thing about the bob is that it is so expensive. I love my bob and think it was worth every penny! With a 2 year old, you won't be using it that long. That is a big investment for a few years. Try craigslist.
