Any ideas of what to do w hubby, 1 and 4 year olds this afternoon or early evening? I want to get out but not just for dinner. The museums close at 5 which doesn't leave much time after nap. Any suggestions???? Thx!

Sounds silly but our 3.5 year old loves the candle pin bowling. Maybe not great for the 1yr old but the older boy loves it and it makes for a good nights sleep and it's easy to tag-team with your husband! Not to mention it's cheap!
The Boston Aquarium is open until 6 PM if an hour makes a difference. We usually only spend about an hour there and then go eat at American Joe's that is on the other side of the Marriott hotel and then have desert in the North End.
The libraries have passes for various museums which will give you discounts to get in. Lowell has lots of different museums and indoor play places as well. There is one of those indoor playgrounds called Perpetual Motion which is great for little ones, and another called JumpOnIn. Have fun!
Not sure if this was for yesterday or today but in Danvers there is Monkey Joe's. It is a huge place with inflatable stuff to jump etc. My daughter when she was 4 LOVED it. Makes for a great bed time. The one I went to had a smaller area for the little ones to walk around etc.
The Children's Discovery Museum in Acton is wonderful, but I'm not sure what time they close -- it might be a similar problem with naptime. My kids love Plaster Funtime.
This weekend is Winterfest in Chelmsford -- there might be something there you'd like. I suspect you could find the schedule by googling Winterfest Chelmsford.
The Science Museum is fun. So is the Aquarium. One Stop Fun has a great indoor playspace in Westford. I don't know what's playing that's appropriate right now, but if there is something Chunkys is a great place to go for a meal and movies with small children (we usually go to the one in Nashua or Haverhill)
Imajine That - in Lawrence. Very cute, indoor playground, right about Salvatore's (Sals pizza).
