Hello Mom's - I have one more thing I need help with. My mom is taking the boys tomorrow night and I need to take my hubby out for a well deserved night away. We thought about going skiing, but I am scared to death. We live in Westminster, CO and are not opposed to a little drive. We are wouldn't mind just staying in downtown Denver, but we are pretty new around here so I would have no idea where would be a good location. We like to have a drink and haven't gone bar hopping since the kids were born, but I want to walk and don't know where the best area would be. Or a cute town we could stay in and maybe walk to bars and restauants. Any suggenstions would be fantastic. We like adventure, but I am not very creative. Thanks!

Hi L.,

I too think the Oxford is a great idea. The hotel is amazing and they have a great martini bar called the CRuise Room that you can go to. Rather than going to McKormicks for dinner, which is an excellent choice, I would walk up a block to Sullivans (located on 18th and Wynkoop) and have dinner there, they have great jazz, the bar is very nice, the Knock Out Martini is amazing and the food is wonderful; afterwards walk over to Wynkoop (located next door) and go shoot pool, play some shuffle board and enjoy the bar or go downstairs in the basement of Wynkoop there is a comedy club. The next morning if its a Sunday and you have the time go to brunch at a place called Dazzle located on Lincoln or Broadway and 8th Ave. (the Oxford offers a complementary towncar for free to the guests to downtown attractions.) The spa is also great at The Oxford if you want to do a couples massage. Have Fun and Hope this helps. Oh, one last thing you can always talk to the consirge at The Oxford his name is Joe and he can help you.

Hi L.,

The Wynkoop Brewery in downtown Denver has an improv theater. It's a ton of fun!

Or the Melting Pot in Lousiville is great too. I think that's where it is. Expect to spend around $100 on the whole meal package. Enjoy a long, relaxing fondue dinner with your hubby.

The Oxford Hotel is nice, and McCormick's is awesome! You can walk all over Lodo from there as well. or walk about two blocks over to the 16th street mall shuttle which is free!

If you are up for going to Boulder, Pearl Street has lots of great restaurants and bars. Hotels are kinda pricey, but the Foot of the Mountain Motel is located in walking distance to Pearl Street and reasonably priced for a cozy room. The hotel is right near Eben G. Fine Park and the creek. There are a ton of nice restaurants on west Pearl- Jax fish house, Bacaro, a couple of nouveau-Mexican/south american places. It is a decent walk, but hotels right on Pearl street (Hotel Boulderado) is very nice but expensive.

Good for you for getting a night out!

The Curtis hotel is a super fun place to stay (and usually very reasonable) and there's a pretty fun bar/restaurant there too called the Corner Office. You are also close to the Denver Center of Performing Arts so you could go to the theater or you would be w/ in walking distance to the 16th street mall to grab dinner. Go to www.denverrestaurantweek.com to check out the restaurants that are offering dinner for 2 for 52.80. My friend went to the Palm on Wednesday and they had a great meal for less than 1/2 price.

Hi L.,

If you want to stay in Denver, you might check out the Oxford Hotel - http://www.theoxfordhotel.com/index.php. It's a historic hotel, there's an awesome bar there called the Cruise Room with great martinis, there's a wonderful spa on site, McCormick's (great seafood restaurant) is attached to the hotel (or you're in short walking distance to bars, restaurants, entertainment, etc.

Have fun on your night out!

There really are so many options. Here are a few of our favorites:

Caveau wine bar is a nice romatic place if you like wine (they also serve beer, but no mixed drinks). They have a small plate menu, so it might be a nice stop either before or after dinner. However, if you don't need a big meal, their food is good as well. Here is the link to their website: http://www.caveauwinebar.com/

Katie Mullen's is a new place that I have heard great things about. Good food and atmosphere. http://katiemullens.com/

If you are looking for a really nice, elegant meal, Del Frisco's is tough to beat. It is a little more expensive than your average restaurant, but the food and service are amazing.

Oh, and there is Elway's also. http://www.elways.com/ My husband took me there for my b-day last year and then we stayed in the Marriott downtown. It was nice.

Also, this is 5280 week, so you might do some checking on the internet for restaurants that are participating in that. You get a dinner for 2 for $52.80. A pretty good deal. I do know that Del Frisco's has participated in this in the past.

Hope you have a nice evening!
