Necklace Organizer

Okay I have a question for all you ladies out there. I am tired of going to get a necklace out of my jewelry box and then spending 15 detangling it from all the other necklaces in my jewelry box. No matter what I do they seem to get tangled. Do any of you have any brilliant ideas on how to store necklaces without them getting all tangled?

What can I do next?

Keep them fastened when you're not using them. If you don't have a hanging device to store them (long ago my mother made me one out of an old rolling pin with cup hooks attached), you need to buy some of the small bags you'll find in the jewelry-making department of the craft store, and keep one necklace in each bag. If they can't get near each other they can't tangle themselves up. (Or can they?...)

We make our own. Just get a cork board, or thin peice of wood and attach decorative door knobs or hooks to it. Then frame it (you can get open back frames at hobby lobby). Then you have a cool piece of art for your room and no more tangled necklaces!

If you want something smaller and more hidden, then Container Store has some cool clear hard plastic necklace holders for a reasonable price.

Ditto here for my daughter's collection! We got her a hanging hook "rack" (from The Container Store) that allows you to hang all your necklaces and keep them tangle free. I've seen some cute ones at craft shows where they had a decoratively painted wood board with some wooden pegs on it to hang the necklaces from. The ones that are stands are a pain IMO because the necklaces are usually too long and puddle all together at the bottle and tangle anyway.

places like ross, marshals, sam moon... have cute jewelry trees too you can buy

I'm a jewelry designer so I have tons of necklace holders. easy ones are those you put on your wall, even tie racks work well.

L.,
I just bought the cutest compartment organizers for my top (thin) dresser drawers at T.J. Maxx! I put O. necklace in each compartment and you can see everything--works great. For me, I don't like the idea of a "tree" where the jewelry is out and visible..I like to crush the clutter!

I just bought a metal jewelry tree from Costco for $20.00 as a Christmas gift for my daughter. Maybe this sort of thing would work for you.
