I bought my daughter a necklace tree, the have really really cute girly ones at hobby lobby, I daughter likes it and she has a matching one for her earrings. It helps keeps the stuff organized whiles still keeping it girly and cute.
My girls (4 & 6) are very girly. Well they are the best of both worlds combo because they go out and play sports and in the mud then come in to a bath in the smelly good stuff and lather on lotion and put on their jewelry. Ok rambeling, sorry.
Anyway- when my girls were younger I could not keep them out of my bathroom drawer (make up, jewlery, hair stuff) so I gave them their own. That worked great. However it has gotten so over crammed with stuff that it doesn't even close anymore. So I set out today to go through, throw out and organize. After throwing out old, crudey, sticky, missing lids, etc... I found 29 "lip items" gloss, chap stick, lib balm, play lipstick, etc. They took up a whole make up bag and their other play makeup took another. I passed the word along that there is such a thing as too many lip glosses (at least for my girls) and requested family and friends to not include these as gift ideas for quite a while. Anyway, so I got rid of a bunch of the junk and old stuff they don't wear or play with but I still have a bunch. The hair accessories have been dealt with as have the earrings.
Now I am down to bracelets and necklaces. What do I do with these things? The girls do have jewelry boxes which contain their nicer necklaces and bracelets for church or dinner out, etc. The stuff in the bathroom is basically their play/costume jewelry. What do I do with these necklaces and bracelets? How do I organize them? most of the bracelets are either beaded, bangles, or the plastic kind so they do not lay flat. The charm bracelets are in the jewelry boxes. As I said I got rid of alot but most that is left either they made, someone made for them, they got it at a special place, etc it has some kind of memory or sentiment attached to it so they don't want to get rid of them and the bangles are just fun! So even though I still have an abundance, I can't purge anymore or they would lose it. I also have necklaces, some stretchy beaded, some the hard beads like madri gras beads others are on chains, how do I keep these from tangling up and ho can I organize them? There is about a dozen or so necklaces total, more bracelets.
Any helpful suggestions would be great!
Thanks

What about getting a small cork board (or large) and using pretty pushpins, hang them all on it. You could get a very basic one and paint the frame and personalize it to look prettier, and then everything can hang from the cork board. My did this with us after all her other organizing things didnt work, because we would still just toss everything in a pile. But hanging it takes one second.
I actually got an over the door shoe organizer for my bathroom and I use it for hair bands, bobby pins, hair spray, sunscreen, hair brushes, make up, lip gloss, band aids, bactine, hand lotion... You name it.
I don't have a lot of counter room or cupboard space in my bathroom so it works great.
Beads can be put in individual ziplocs to keep them from tangling with others and put in one of the compartments. Same with bangles.
The over the door things take up zero space, are inexpensive, and come in many different styles and sizes. The shoe one works best for me because I can also keep bigger things in it, like I said, my hair brushes, etc.
I just had my husband put a bunch of small hooks right on the wall in my closet. He just picked up a pack from Lowe's/Home Depot. They screw right into the wall. I can hang 1-3 necklases on each. I have about 3 rows of 10 and it is fantastic. I used to have such a big pile of tangled necklaces. It seems like there is no jewelry box big enough to hold necklaces nicely. You could do this on the wall behind a door or something too maybe. I actually had him screw a coat hanger type thing in behind my closet, bedroom and bathroom doors to keep belts, purses, and robes on though. Those might work for some of your daughter's bigger dress up type items.
What about tie or pant hangers? Would work great for both bracelets and necklaces, keeps them visible......It sounds like you have a lot of options for in the closet.... any way you can set up an area in theirs? Maybe get a tall jewelry box, mirror, etc... this could be their place to get dressed up. Then you wouldn't have earrings in bathroom and necklaces in closet.
You can get some clear storage boxes at a craft store that are meant for storing small items, usually beads. These have small compartments that you can put all the differerent things in like earrings and necklaces. They are only about 2 bucks each, so you can buy lots of them. They are not tall... like about an inch or inch and a half, so you can stack them. Best of all, since they are clear, you just look down into the compartments thru the lid and you know what's in there without even opening the box. The ones I am thinking of are about 9" x 12".
Good luck!!

I have no room for my necklaces and such so I put cup hooks in the wall to hang them on! Works great for me and they don't get tangled. Good luck sorting it all out!
well, I keep my daughters in a small fishing tackle box that we keep under the bathroom sink. When she plays dress up, she pulls it out & there is all her rings, necklaces, bracelets, lip stuff & makeup, hair stuff. etc.. Works for us & she can clean & organize it herself. It is clear & I got it at walmart for like $10. I hate having all that out & looking cluttered. :)
This sounds kind of trashy, but it worked for me.....
My husband hammered a ton of "pretty" upholstery tacks all along my closet wall and I hung all of my necklaces and bracelets up. Nobody else can see them and I can see and access them as I am getting dressed in the morning. I love it and they aren't tangled anymore. I use my once overflowing jewelry box for rings and other small items.
It sounds a little ghetto, but it was a great fix for me!
my girls (5) are into those things also. firstly, i resigned to the fact that lip gloss gets lost then found then under the couch so i always ask people not to get my girls anything like that.
second, jewelry (grrr) got them each pretty big jewelry boxes. deal is every time they get something new, something old needs to go and be donated. they can own as much as fits in those jewelry boxes. so we replace them. but because of being replaced my girls don't ask for too much jewelry anymore and they like what they already have. found the jewelry boxes (decorated with jewels at marshalls), they're very big but not big enough to keep buying and never getting rid of anything. their silver and gold jewelry goes into my jewelry box.
They make a ton of different styles of hooks that are easy to mount on things. Surely they have a wall, foot board, side of some furniture, etc, that you could install/stick some of these hooks to for their costume jewelry. Use it as fun and funky decoration in their spaces. If you have cats, same idea, but inside a closet on a far wall, or such.
Alternatively, they make those circle style hangers for closets so you can hang up your belts. They could each have one of those of costume jewelry in their closets. Or a shoe pocket hanger for the back of their bedroom door for all the costume jewelry and other girl shwag.
