My Whites Are Now Pink!

I washed a load of laundry today, including the quilt I handmade for my son before he was born. At the last minute, I handed a red rug to my husband and ask him to throw it in with the load that was running. WHAT WAS I THINKING!!?!?! I now have a quilt with all of the parts that were beige that are now pink. What should I do? I have not dried it yet. The front of the quilt is made of cotton, regular fabric that you would use to make a quilt. The backside is chenille, it was beige, not its also pink. Any suggestions? I washed it again, it helped, but its still pink. I have read that baking soda, vinegar, and oxyclean are some options, but I want to avoid fading the dark colors. HELP!!!

What can I do next?

Maybe a color-safe bleach? Also, you could try to throw about a cup of Shout into the load to see if that helps at all? These are just suggestions, but I have not tried them myself...let us know if anything helped...k?

Also something that works miracles on my daughter's stained clothes and might work for this is called GOOP...its in the automotive section at wal-mart and can be used for many different purposes, i use it totally for all stains on my clothes and it doesn't fade or hurt them a bit, good luck!!

I use Oxiclean for stain removal and it gets just about any stain out! I even use a scoop in my wash loads (usually just the whites and colors, not the darks) to keep them bright. I don't think it fades very much at all actually, you may have good luck with it.

you could try soaking it in oxyclean overnight and then washing it to see if it works. I'm a huge fan of oxy and use it on my sons clothes all the time.

I had the same problem not too long ago. I tried just about everything people suggested on here. Unfortunately for me nothing really worked to get the pink out of my son's clothes. As a last resort, I tried the Rit Dye for whites first then for color removal and it ruined everything it touched. I would definitely NOT use either. But for future reference, the Shout Color Catch sheets are great. I tried them with the load that I ruined and they weren't really effective. However, I use them all the time now and they really do seem to work well. Good luck.

RID makes a product that will supposedly fix this kind of problem. I've never used it, but I've seen it in stores. It's in the laundry aisle up with the dying products. Good luck!!

Oxiclean stuff works.. I did that once to my laundry. You will have to let it soak in warm warm water for a long time. but it will take it out. And it did not fade any of my clothes. That's all I have to offer. It work for me.

There is a product that is a sheet that will take the red out. I don't remember the name. But just go to the laundry section at someplace like walmart and look for it. Since you haven't dried it I think it will work pretty well. I've used them before. I'd put a couple of the sheets in the wash.

The vinegar should set the color so don't use it.

I would a bleach for colors if the dye extracting sheets don't work.
