Hi mamas! I'll get right down to the point, whenever my cycle is due, my hip sockets hurt. They feel very bruised. If I lay on my side at night, it will actually wake me up. Does this happen to ANYONE else? I've heard of mood swings, bloating, cramps, migraines but sore sockets? LOL! I feel broken! Hahaha! Thanks moms!

What can I do next?

I have experienced that type of pain often.. In part, for me, I believe it's due to Sciatica.. If you look online as to where the Sciatic Nerve is located, you'll notice that it's up near the hip.. In some cases and due to swelling of of the uterine wall as we get closer to menstruation, there can be added pressure on the nerve, hence resulting in hip pain. Apart from Ibuprofen which I don't like to take too much of... I try and do a yoga pose called Tadasana.. If you aren't familiar with yoga, it's a pose you do while standing up and by doing it, you are making your hips go directly forward as oppose to flaring out to either side.. (ever notice how many pregnant women jut their stomachs out while at the same time their hips kinda turn more outward) well that motion can cause misalignment and again cause ones hips to hurt. Of course, after pregnancy, if a person doesn't work on getting their hips back into alignment, the problem can worsen...

IF you look online, there are free sites that demonstrate the above yoga pose. I have found it works and I do it as often as possible.. E.g. I do it while washing dishes .. Basically, I work hard at getting my hips in more alignment. Also, if you have a sitting job, that too will cause our hips to jut to either side and of course, weight gain.

Bottomline.. For me, I have had to lose weight, do a lot of stretching (this too helps a lot) and work on body alignment..

good luck to you :)

Another thing to consider, bursitis. It's the irritation of the bursa sacs on either side of the hips/legs. It hurts like hell and I've also been woken up from that pain. Not much they can do for that, save for a cortisone injection which I just won't get. All part of aging, delightful huh? Lol.

That happened to me too! That SAME exact thing!
I did correlate it to my period/PMS. I know my rhythms very well and PMS.
But for some reason, it doesn't happen anymore.
I did read once, that PMS can affect women and getting aches and pains around that time of the month. So you are not imagining it.

I take Cayenne extract. Its for overall health.
I think it helped.
If you read about Cayenne extract, it is very good for many things and overall health.
I get it from any natural food stores.

I think when hormones make the joints of the hips more flexible during labor it must be the same thing during your cycle. It's the hormones.

I have recently been going through this too! I even had a bone scan to see if it was my cancer metastisized. It was clear for that plus artthritis. My theory is it is the hormones. Unfortunately doctors are completely ill-equipt to discuss this so will therefore shrug it off. I did a little research and found that this could very well be what is causing it. I have had it for about 5 months now and there is a definite pattern areound my cycle. I just wish that I could find someone to discuss any possible treatments for it.

Like Jeanne W I get flare ups of bursitis in that area. Also in my shoulders. I get tendinitis in my knees. Hurts!! Sucks!! There is nothing they can do. Well.... take an anti inflammatory pill like Aleve or cortisone shots.
