I had hip pain with 2 pregnancies and yoga seemed to help a lot. YOur hips are widening to make room for the baby. Also, is you husband giving you the shots? I took shots with both pregnancies and had some nerve problems from them that eventually went away. The second time around, my DH got better at the shots and it was much better. Definitely talk to your doc.

I think the term for it is Round Ligament Pain. It sounds like it might be that but talk to your doctor to make sure. I did not receive but had lots of hip pains in the beginning. Good luck! :-)

I was pregnant 3 times and only had similar hip pain with the last pregnancy. I never had to take shots. I learned that this is fairly common issue because the muscles and ligaments loosen and stretch to broaden your base to support your ever growing belly. So good news is, it's normal. The bad news is, you kind of just have to deal with it.

I did find that walking helped me tremendously. There was something therapeutic about getting moving. I too never found a comfortable sleeping position even though I owned a full body pillow and used tons of pillows between my legs, under my hips, etc. to try to get some sleep. I did find that that when laying on my side it helped a bit to support my waist - I'd put a pillow under the sway of my waist (between my hips and shoulders) and then a small one under my belly (in front of me) to help support the baby.

So know that it's normal and that at some point, it will pass and you'll sleep better (until the last month!). LOL

I took progesterone shots the last half of my pregnancy - to keep me from going into labor. With those shots I had injection site pain and itching every single day! My hips hurt during the pregnancy - but I assumed that was because your body has to make room for the growing uterus/baby/placenta/ etc! I could only sleep on my right side - due to reflux - with a pillow between my legs - but 38 weeks my hips felt like they were going to snap! I felt soooo much better once my sweet baby made her apperance though! You can call and ask your dr. about taking something like unisome to help you sleep - I had to do that two times while I was pregnant because I went weeks on end with no sleep and had to care for my other two during the day - i was so exhausted!

Hang in there...in the end it will all be worth it!

Dear M., Are you rubbing the area after the injection? Are you alternating sides and shooting in the proper triangle zone that the Dr told you?, I would suggest sleeping on a ice pack to numb the area and also tell your Dr of your issues. I would get shots twice a day, it does hurt. please contact me if you need a shoulder to cry on.

I'm not sure if it is related to the shot or not. You may want to ask your doctor to draw a circle on you where the shot is supposed to go in permanent marker, and keep refreshing it...maybe your aim has traveled? For normal pregnancy pains, you may want to try an acupuncturist?

I would talk to your doctor about it right away.

I had horrible hip pain with my 3rd pregnancy and it was not related to shots. I had OsteoArthritis and bone spurs in my left hip joint, which went undiagnosed for over a year after I gave birth. I eventually had that hip replaced.

One thing that it might be is bursitis in the hip. The bursa become swollen and tender. I was unable to lay on my left side without experiencing horrible pain. A cortizone shot cleared it up. The way the orthopaedic doc diagnosed it was by pressing on the spot where the bursa are. I about leaped off of the table. 10 minutes later, all was well.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

I did not take any hormones or anything during my pregnancies, but I had hip pain for both. So, your hip pain may not be caused by your progesterone shots. The pain was worse at night b/c I was laying on my hip. Sometimes it was a little painful while walking. For me, it was simply b/c my pelvis was moving to accomodate the future birth of the baby. I would guess yours has to do with the same thing. I just grinned & beared it. It went away after the baby was born. It was worse w/ my 2nd pregnancy. Good luck & congrats!

I too think hip pain is just a normal pregnancy thing. Stretching and sleeping with a pillow between your knees will probably help.
