Hi Taya,
www.ThemeFest.com. It is a party venue that offers different themes, princess being one of them. All themes are included in one big room so if she wants to be a pirate princess, or cowgirl princess she can do it all!
I am looking to have a really nice 5th birthday party for my daughter in August. SHe is my little princess and I would like to stick with that theme but more personal for her.. Special cake, decor and place. Let me know of any ideas.....

I had my twin sons' birthday party at Super Franks in Pleasanton right off of 680/580. I'm not sure where you are located and how far you are willing to travel but you should definitely check out the facilities online and in-person. The staff is VERY attentive and it's similar to a Chuck E Cheese but way way better. Smaller arcade and themed party rooms (ie. Taught Town, Sports Room, Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Golf, and Princess Room). The food is much better and I believe in the Princess Room there's a huge front of a castle where the kids can dress up and parade their clothes around, a Princess reads story time, food can consist of finger sandwiches and tea, etc. Good luck!
Safeway makes a pretty decent cake, and it's not too expensive. They also have a lot of designs to choose from.
Oriental Trading Company http://www.orientaltrading.com has 5 billion kids party decorations/themes/items that you can get in bulk. If you are planning on inviting more than 5 kids to your party, this is the way to go. It's way cheaper than those party stores.
As for themes, if it is going to be a princess party and all girls, why don't you make it into a fancy tea party? You can take your basic kids food and "pretty it up" to make it fancy. I did this for my daughter and she loved it. Let me know if you want ideas.
Good Luck,
K.
We had a magic princess come out and entertain the kids. She did face painting and balloon twisting and a magic show for $160 and stays for 1 1/2 hours. The cost is actaully $180, but if you say you found them in Bay Area Parent Magazine, in which I did, you get a $20 discount. You can choose from different characters and types. We had a fairy princess rather than a disney princess. There are pirates, hulla and ballet dancers, wizards and clowns (non scary) as well.

Wilton makes super long lollypop sticks that you can bake into cookies to make "wands". They go over great. I did a tinkerbell partywhen my daughter was 4. I made star shaped cookies with sugar crystals. tie ribbons to the cookie sticks. big hit.
You can get foam cone hats at the craft store. The kids have a great time decorating their own princess hat with ribbon and mesh and big plastic gems.
A "Red Carpet" up to your front door(if you do it at home) would be adoreable. I would use just a plastic party table cloth taped down. Pink or purple to match your theme would be cute too.
Painting nails is very girlie and princessy. You can have fun picking out a range of polishes at the store with your daughter, and then let the girls pick their favorites to take home.
Good luck. have fun. My daughter turns 5 in June. She likes bugs and aliens and monsters and we're having a Birthday Halloween Party.

I did a princess party for my daughter myself when she turned age 4 and got most of the supplies at Oriental Trading Company. I made the invitations using square doilies and put a purple piece of paper in the center with the details (purple is very regal). They were instructed to come in their finest dress-up clothing and bring a lady-in-waiting (or lord-in-waiting) to attend to them. I hired two 11-13 yo girls to help as "castle servants" for the day. They were thrilled with the ($5/hour) money and with the referrals for future babysitting jobs!.
The children made necklaces to wear out of beads, mostly bi-cones to reflect the light nicely, although you can buy pre-made ones. They decorated jewelry boxes from OTC. The lunch was a tea party. Food was finger sandwiches (3 types: cucumber with cream cheese, ham, and jelly) all cut into flower shapes using the Pampered Chef bread tube or a cookie cutter. Drink was apple juice mixed with 7-up to give it fizz and poured into plastic wine / champagne glasses from Smart & Final or some such store. I got a tiara shaped pinata from Disney store that you pulled ribbons rather than whacked with a stick to get the candy. I seem to remember Baskin Robbins having a very Princessy ice cream cake.
The things they made during the party were their favors / gifts. And I put fruit roll-ups and fruit snacks in the pinata along with the candy to take up space.
