I just need some support here. I can hardly function. Between the sneezing and the itchy eyes and completely congested sinuses...I have had it! Anybody else in my boat? What are you taking? I have tried Zyrtec, Claritin, Claritin D, and Allegra. Claritin D is the best usually but if it is a high pollen day, it is not enough. I was outside for 4 hours straight on Friday and had to come in because my eyes were itching soo badly and completely bloodshot. Share your thoughts and ideas please I would love to hear them. Thanks :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you, everyone. It looks like I am going to have to get my behind to the doctor if I want to get any real relief.

My son suffers from seasonal allergies.
He's on Zyrtec, Flonase and Afrin.
As his pediatrician (who suffers from the same thing) explained it: Allergy Meds, Flonase and Afrin will be his BFFs for seasonal allergy seasons. It's the ONLY way I keep mine under control."

When it really "flares" the Zyrtec is not enough and the Flonase helps with the inflammation....

My daughter and I go through bad allergies.

For starters, right now we are taking Allegra. When we finish that bottle (large bottle from Costco), per the Dr., we will switch to Claritin, and rotate each bottle.

The Dr. said you can get immune to the allergy med so to switch it up.

We also do the nasal rinse which helps a lot.

This one sounds weird but it works... The Dr. said to gargle at least twice a day with Listerine. It loosens up the junk in your throat. I also helps stop the coughing if you have the cough.

Lastly, sprinkle local bee pollen on your food or just take about 1/2 teaspoon daily. Local honey works too, the bee pollen is just more concentrated. It does not taste that bad, I just pop it in my mouth and wash it down with juice.

We have to be diligent to take the meds daily. We take the 24 hr pill. Sometimes when it is really bad, benedryl at night is the only way I can sleep.

I take Zyrtec, Singulair (mostly for asthma but it works for allergies too), and Nasacort. For a while I was taking two nasal inhalers because I've been having increased post nasal drip issues, but I've tapered back to one to see how it goes.

So far I haven't noticed the allergies being too bad, but I spend a lot of time indoors for work. I'm worried because I know this season is supposed to be bad.

In the past, I've doubled up on zyrtec when it's bad. I take one at night and then offset by 12 hours and take another.

Also, I tend to carry some natural tears type drops to help clean out my eyes when they get really itchy.

I am suffering as well. I went to the allergist Monday and got myself a steroid booster shot and a Medral pack. It's working slow but sure. I can still tell when I walk (for exercise)/run that my body is still undersiege.

Get to the allergist so he/she can patch you back up!

Only things that work for me are Benadryl and Allaway for my eyes. I know Benadryl knocks most people out but in my case, it's the only thing I can take. If I need to stay awake, I'll just drink coffee or Red Bull.

Hope you get some relief!!!!!

My eyes are terrible, too, and nothing is helping! Other than my eyes, I'm not too bad, but my eyes are awful. Actifed helped a little bit, and then I tried good, old-fashioned Benadryl, and it helped a little more than the Actifed, but neither helped much. I'm afraid I'm going to rub off all of my eyelashes.

I hope you find something that gives you some relief, and if you do, let me know what it is! :)

Tonight I was thinking about how allergies rhymes with enemies. A part of me thought that was funny and then I realized the only reason that is funny to me is because I am under the influence of allergies.
Ohhhhh my head hurts.

Awwuh, I can't relate but my husband and kids have allergies. They are miserable! My kids eyes get swollen and blood shot, and they are cranky when the pollen count is high. I give them medicine for it, but they are still unhappy and over the whole thing. When the winter weather breaks my daughter always asks, 'Mommy, are the flowers coming?' It must be a miserable thing to deal with :-(

I always have to look at the allergy forecast each day. My son has such terrible environmental allergies, I have to try and minimize the things that really trigger his allergics (like grass). Right now, grass pollen is in it's peak (and today was a very high allergen day). We just don't do activities outside if possible. Anyway, keeping tabs on that can really help minimize the exposure. You'll also get more relief with your meds if you are not overexposed.
BTW- Thurs and Friday in my area is supposed to be an extremely high grass pollen count day. Trees are supposed to be pretty bad those days too. Just a heads up. :)
Hope this helps!
