My 2 Year Old Son Shifting from Foot to Foot While Standing Still

I'm not particularly worried, more curious as to why my 29 month old son cant stand still. If he's playing and something catchs his eye on the TV say, he'll stand watching, all the while he's shifting from foot to foot in a rocking motion. I assumed it was like a 'comfort' thing as i found i did it when i was pregnant with him and as all babies are usually rocked when they are smaller too. Has anyone else encountered this in their children or anyone have a reason why he may do this? Many thanks.

What can I do next?

Sounds like many boys who just can't sit still and want to stay moving - even as adults! It's not good or bad - just who he is. He will probably be a kinesthetic learner - one who has to do it to learn, touch, feel, manipulate to get it stuck in his brain. They make their teachers crazy as they fidget, move around, etc - but they are the guys who are the builders, engineers, athletes, teachers, etc.

He's a boy, and he's two!!
My four year old is rarely ever still. Even when he's walking, it's not enough action for him. He kicks a foot out to the side, pretends to do ninja flips, or air boxes and he walks.
They have soooooo much energy, it's like they can't get enough out!
I wouldn't worry!

Sounds normal. Sounds like his body wants to go run and play, but his eyes have been captivated for the moment.

My brothers and sister would sit on the couch and rock back and forth life that. They were rambunctious and just needed to be doing things all the time. I would double check his shoes/socks. Are they on when he's rocking or are they off? try the other and see what happens. Although I think he just may feel the need for the contant rocking motion.

The only time my 11 y.o son holds still is when he passes out from exhaustion at 9 pm each night. Up until then, there isn't a moment his body or mouth is still.

This is normal for this age he's still finding balance in his body.

TV bad news for little ones. His actions are also from taking in the energies, movements, flickering of the tv.

Look into this and you'll see what it does to the brain.

Sometimes, kids do things JUST because they can! He is exploring his world, his body is doing new things every day!
He could be a little ADHD, but it truly is too early to make that determination. Little bodies have to move.
