Perhaps it is best to have it tested at the doctor esp. if she's heard that people are spiking the drinks with "something unknown."
My 15 yr old daughter said when she pees its orange and when she wipes its bright orange. The only thing I know that can do this is certain medications. We dont have these medications at our house. She is with me all the time except at band practice 4 hrs a day. So Im curious what you other mothers think about this.
Last year she told us someone was spiking peoples drinks with pills to make them pee orange.
Not sure what it is yet shes drinking about 64 oz of water a day. No energy drinks, no juice and no vitamins. Im just watching it for 24 hrs.

T.,
First, call the doc or obgyn. Also, is she taking any vitamins or supplements?? Some vitamins and energy supplements can turn your urine yellowish orange, I would ask her. Some of the new "energy" drinks can do that as well. However, at 15 she does not need to take any energy supplements it is dangerous for her body. Hope this helps!
I'd make her tank up on water for a couple of days. I'm talking about 8 full glasses of water through out the day. If that doesn't clear it up...then I'd definitely have it checked.
Does she take vitamins or consume energy drinks?Alot of times these products will alter the color of urine. Things like carrots can alter color where asparagus will alter the smell.

There are actually a few different causes that could be linked. It could be as simple as something your daughter has been eating or drinking a lot lately, it could be dehydration (you mentioned 4 hour band practice...is this marching band?)...or it could be something a little more worisome like blood or bile. Here is a small list. I would see her doc...
****The following medical conditions are some of the possible causes of Orange urine. There are likely to be other possible causes, so ask your doctor about your symptoms.
Certain foods or drinks
Beets - turn urine reddish
Borscht (beet soup) - turn urine reddish
Blackberries - may lead to red urine
Rhubarb - can cause orange urine
Senna - can lead to orange urine
Blood in urine - see causes of blood in urine
Dehydration - causes darker urine or even a gold-color urine
Bile in urine - causes a tea-like or mahogany color.
Jaundice - causes bile in urine
I have a history of kidney stones, and normally when I am passing a kidney stone, it will be painful and my urine is dark colored... not "bright orange" but definitely a rust or brown color. Sorry, that's kind of gross, but that color usually it is indicative of blood in your urine. Alternatively, if she's eaten something like beets it can cause dark urine. Is she having any other symptoms like burning, itching, fever, lower abdominal pain? Wouldn't hurt to have a urinalysis done....?
Dehydration could cause a very dark yellow/orange color thta has a strong odor. With her being outside at band, maybe she is not drinking enough. Could she be drinking those energy drinks?
I know that when I was in Hawaii I was drinking, Mango & Guava Juices that made my pee orange and have a strong smell. Urinary tract medication called AZO or Peridium can do that as well.
There is an OTC medicine for relieving pain in urinary tract, that when you take them it makes the pee orange, so if someone snuck one of those in her drink at band, that would explain it. It is just a pain reliever so it's not harmful. I believe the main ingredient is Phenazopyridine. Of course she will have to come up with a plan to make sure her drinks are "safe." Next could be more serious drugs! Good luck!
Sounds like someone slipped her some AZO; foods normally would not make urine BRIGHT orange, not like AZO does.
Heavy doses of vitamin A can make your urine and skin orange as well as the AZO.
