Moving to Denver Area, Reccomendatinos on Best Places to Live/work???

Welcome! Highlands Ranch (South Denver) is a great place to raise a family. There are lots of ammenities, great schools and parks. It depends on what you are looking for....Highlands Ranch is definitely suburbia! I love your dogs' names! Too cute!

We live in Denver itself and love it. my kids go to a highly rated Denver public school, Cory elementary, rated a distinguished school. there are several such schools, but you do have to look for them. I hate living in the suburbs as others have mentioned, but the city here is very suburban in nature, so you can have the amenities of the suburb and city both at the same time. I live in the Wellshire east neighborhood now. Cory-Merrill is great, as is Washington Park.

Here are some links to check out the local schools. Our kids go to a Cherry Creek school and we have been very pleased. As for neighborhoods we prefer the Highlands Ranch and Homestead areas. The Homestead are (Quebec/Dry Creek in Centennial is a great place to live. A little on the expensive side, but a GREAT community). It is so close to the the Denver Tech Center and all shopping. The main artery I-25 is very close and getting to Downtown, Castle Rock and Colorado Springs is super easy. We rarely go outside of our 5 mile radius because everything we need is right here.

When looking for schools ask other parents that have kids attending what they think. My kids' school has an occupational and speech therapist that are part of the school program as well as a psychologist. They work with the teachers so if your child needs a little extra help it is all within the school and it is set up where the kids don't have a clue they are getting the extra help. I've heard horror stories of parents being told to take there kids with any type of issue to seek outside tutoring or put them on drugs. Definitely make sure the school is geared towards helping your child grow and learn in all aspects of life and that they have a support system within the school.

I'm sure you can build your business anywhere you go. I would suggest seeking Cherry Creek, Lone Tree, and Highlands Ranch for the south of Denver. East Aurora is building up nicely and there are many higher priced homes as well that may be apt to use your services.

The public schools in the city of Denver are rated HORRIBLE... So, with that in mind, to live in/near the city of Denver you would probably want to live in "unincorporated Arapahoe county" which is a meandering area through Denver that allows your kids to go to Cherry Creek schools. Another option is to live in Jefferson county (Golden area) or Littleton (just south of Denver). I live in Denver and love it but we are seriously considering moving out due to the schools and we would like to have a yard. Houses in Denver are really expensive...for what you get.

We totally love Highlands Ranch! The schools are great. The neighborhoods are friendly. We're close to most any shopping we need. It only takes me about 25 minutes to get to the hospitals downtown for appointments. Maybe less, depending on time of day. We looked at a lot of areas. HR is not really more than any place else, but in comparison to places like Englewood and Littleton, our house is about 50 years newer. There are some high end neighborhoods that might be good for your business, too. Hope your move goes smoothly!

We live in SW Jefferson County (our address is Littleton, but we are actually "Unicorporated Jefferson County). We are right at the baswe of the foothills close to Ken Caryl Ranch an Deer Creek Valley - lots of beautiful homes and great neighborhoods and schools. Jeffco School district is one of the best in the state.

Where are you moving from? I'm a little biased, because I have a child in the Cherry Creek School District, but the school system here in SE Aurora/Centennial is excellent. Housing is also more affordable than in Denver. And the commute wouldn't be too bad, probably about half an hour (or a little longer during rush hour) to downtown Denver, and much closer to many other parts of the city.

What types of neighborhoods/communities/housing are you interested in? I've lived in the metro area for 10 years and am familiar with most parts of it. I'm also a real estate agent (but not a pushy or annoying one, I hope! : ) and can recommend some other areas to consider.

Highlands Ranch is great for raising a family. We moved to Highlands Ranch from Denver because of the schools and our neighborhood had no children. Our daughter goes to St. Thomas More Catholic school and we love it! Our public school is just around the corner and is highly rated also. Paying tuition is kind of rough, but our daughter was in kindergarten at STM last year all day and our tuition was the same as public kindergarten all day.

I am not to sure.
I know that the schools that the children here go to are some of the best in the country. That is what I was told.

We looked all around the Denver area when relocating here this past spring. There are lots of nice suburban areas, but they are VERY suburban--walking places is really not an option. We moved from Chicago where both the city and the close in burbs were walkable and I really miss it. We looked at several Denver neighborhoods--there are some great public elementary schools in the city, but you get into trouble at middle school. We ended up in Castle Rock (my husband works in the tech center--SW Denver--only 15 min drive) in a beautiful wooded area with lots of trees. I love how peaceful it is, but it is very isolating and I HATE having to drive everywhere. If I didn't have 3 kids, I'd be in the city. Taxes are pretty low here compared to Chicago, so if we only had one kid, we would have done private schools.

We moved to Highlands Ranch 7 years ago and absolutely love it! The school system is Douglas County and we've really liked them - my oldest is in his first year of middle school and my younger 2 are at Fox Creek. We love the area and are close to our church, mall, shops, grocery stores, etc....

For you type of work i would recommend looking in the the Highlands area or Cherry Creek!
