Has anyone had personal experience with this doctor and his office? I am thinking of switching OB's and it is a little scary. I want to get it right. Is there anything I should know? Are the other doctor's competant? I am specifically concerned about Dr. McClusky.

What can I do next?

I'm not familiar with Dr. Goodman or his practice but I have this to say HONOR YOUR GUT FEELINGS. If you are not sure about a doctor in the practice, find somewhere else. You have the right to feel comfortable with your OB. Unless the practice can guarantee you get YOUR doctor for delivery, you get whoever is on call, right? Investigate that to make sure you don't get stuck wtih the doc you don't want when the big moment comes. Appointments can be rescheduled. Deliveries can't (unless you're a scheduled C and then this is all a bit moot). Also, check into when Goodman goes on vacation. I would think he knows his schedule for the next 10 weeks.

As for other ideas, I have always used Contemporary Care for Women (www.careforwomen.net). I like some of the docs better than others but all are exceptional at what they do. Doctors Linnerson and Lew are my two very favorites. Best wishes!!

When I had my daughter two years ago, I considered Dr. Goodman, but after researching, I went with Dr. Karen Ragaini at New Horizons (http://www.newhorizonswomenscare.com/viewArticle?ID=161621)
She was absolutely wonderful. She really listened to me and was very patient and respectful of all my birthing wishes.

I've seen both doctors you mentioned and here's my experience. I'd been trying to get pregnant for awhile and kept having miscarriages. Dr. Goodman was a grandfatherly type, very positive and nice. I absolutely adored Dr. McClusky - she was extremely helpful, and didn't "pooh pooh" my concerns. However, I had a BIG problem with the office staff in general. I would call to get test results and never get a call back. I felt rudely treated at times and completely ignored at others. I will not go back there.

After finally getting pregnant with a "sticky" baby, I went to Dr. Joan Warner of Desert Foothills OB on Chandler Blvd. and Kyrene. She is in practice by herself, and just wonderful! I never felt hurried by her and built a great rapport. It was a wonderful change from the "assembly-line" mentality of the larger practices.

Good luck and congrats on your girl after all boys. I finally had my boy in late April, after having 3 girls!!
