Moms of Kids w/Allergies - Do You Buy/order Special Treats for Them for XMAS?

We are new to this allergy thing. We've got severe peanut/tree nut allergies. So I'm wondering where do you Mamas buy treats for your kids? Do you buy them special treats for holidays? Do any stores carry nut free candies and bakery items like donuts, etc.

I just ordered some online from an "allergy free" website that posts info on each items - like peanut free, tree nut free, egg free, etc. I wanted to make sure that our child has some safe treats in the stocking. Shipping is $9. So I'd like to find local resources if possible.

Thanks Mamas!

I got my peanut allergic daughter the big Hershey's kiss. Hershey's does a good job labelling. They make small chocolate Santas too, but I don't remember if that was safe or not. I wish the m&m-like candies Hershey puts in those candy cane things were safe; I'd stock up!

Let me know if you find something locally that specialized in nut-free! I'll do the same for you.

There are lots of safe treats for your child. I just bought some Andes candies,Cadbury has candy coated m&m look alike type candy,PLAIN hershey kisses, tootsie roll is all safe as are dum dums. Check the candy canes , some are safe(Spangler and Dum Dums are ok).Swiss Miss hotchocolate, marshmellows in new fun shapes , etc. Whenever we go some where, I bring a safe treat for my kids. I bring brownies alot. $1 a box and quick and easy. Entemann's is good about labeling their donuts. Once in a while we get a package of their mixed donut assortment or individual packages of the bluberry muffins. We also just had Dean's brand ice cream snowmen. Super fun! If it's just peanut/tree nut like my son you can find enough candy/treats that you won't have to buy specialty items that are all allergy free. We are lucky, trust me, it could be worse!Go to the allergy moms web site. Look up safe candy on there, I thinks it is under Halloween though. It will give you lots of ideas . Also, I buy Hershey's milk chocolate chips to make chocolate chip cookies for my son. Most other brands aren't safe.Hershey's is also good about labeling. If it is hade in a factory with , it will say it. I know this is early but at Easter I buy the hershey hollow bunnies. Good luck to you ! Hang in there, it is overwhelming when you first find out. If you need any other help just send a personal response back.Merry christmas!

I have a son with peanut allergies. I'd rather not risk it. I make treats myself, like fudge or sugar cookies, and I know exactly what goes into them.
