Hi, mothers. I have asked questions on here and many of you have helped me and here's another question. I have three boys and the issue only happened with the last two boys I have and this one is worst. My two sons had bowel movements when wearing diaper before 2 1/2 yrs. old and they were wet-like and had yeast infection. I have found that Destitin helped but also when the diaherra stopped no more yeast infection. Other things including what the dr prescribed never helped my boys, only Destitin and if the diaherra stopped they were better. To be honest, I never figured out what stopped for my second son but I was glad it was over with. My last one here recently has a fever of almost 103 and the dr's office said that if the fever did not go down by the next morning call them again and bring him in. I did everything to get the fever down and it did and he was fine. The only thing that has not gone away was the diaherra. I thought, I gave him juice and water and perhaps the juice, apple juice was what did it and maybe he was allergic to strawberries because I got him to eat it finally. I stopped the fruits and focused on getting the protein veggies to make sure he got what he needed and was okay with eating afterwards but still diaherra. He had only water the whole week and not juice to find out what is wrong and he's still having diaherra. he had the explosives the last few days and I can't understand what is wrong. Yesterday, my husband gave him rice after the explosives and no more poopies after that yesterday. He woke up with it again and my husband called the dr's office while I cleaned him up and the nurse said to give him yogurt, rice and bananas. I want to know what the problem is and Destitin and medicaided powder with cornstarch is great too. I never knew what it was with my second son and now I don't know with this one and still can't figure out what to do to stop whatever it is. Could he be allergic to dairy out of the clear blue? I gave him homemade macaroni and cheese. We make homemade pizza, everything is natural, nothing out of boxes. Help me please!

So What Happened?

Thank you mothers who responded. I know that BRAT is good to help our boys, but it was the rice that stopped him from going so much but my concern was that if you stopped giving it to him for one day, he would have another diaherra. So, I stopped giving him the whole milk (because he's only 21 mos. and they are to drink whole milk until they are two) and I gave him the 1% and he was fine. I can't drink whole milk and felt that it's too heavy. I prefer 1% and he did much better with that. Again, thanks to you moms out there.

You need to find the root cause of the diaherra. He might have gastro intestinal issues that need to be looked at or an allergy of some kind. Lactose intolerance can cause this too. In the meantime rice and bananas are known to be binding. Yogurt is good as well since it contains good bacteria. I would also ask the doctor about pedialyte as this replaces important potassium and electrolytes lost from diaherra.

Whenever my kids had a stomach bug I always reintroduced dairy, fatty foods, and vegetables gradually. The stomach virus can take a week or so to get out of your system so I would keep him on the brat diet (bread, rice, apples, etc and no dairy) and see if it works. He could have a dairy intolerance when he has a lot of dairy at one time. My daughter would be fine sometimes with milk and if she would have a lot of milk and then ice cream she would get really bad cramps and then diarrhea. Since your son had a fever before the diarrhea I would assume it was a virus. I would go really light and give rice with broth etc. Also fats can bother them like, mayo, butter etc. Keep him bland and see if it helps and if not then call the doc. Good luck!!

BRAT (Banana Rice Applesauce Toast) those are the magic foods to help stop the diahhrea. Also, don't give to much water. It washes out their electrolytes and makes them more dehydrated, especially in small children. I would continue to give fruit juices, but on a very limited basis as it helps to replenish the vitamins he is losing. And of course dilute it. I found that balmex worked better then desitin and Triple paste works the best. Also, give him baths with avveno baby (pink top) and baking soda (the stuff you keep in your fridge). It helps to naturalize the acids on the skin and heal him faster.

my daughter has this poop/rash issue. the doctor's prescribed ointments never worked. nothing we ever bought worked so we switched to cloth diapers. those didn't work either. we tried Burt's Bees diaper rash cream - SUCCESS! But it only was a temporary fix. then the ENT told us that the #1 cause of ear infections (she had had 7 by 10 months) was a dairy allergy, and before he put tubes in he wanted us to take dairy out of her diet completely, to see if it was causing ear infections. So I took her off dairy and lo and behold!! the diarrhea/rash completely disappeared, for good. even when we went back to disposable diapers (2 working parents + 2 sick kids? no time for cloth)! But it took 2 weeks to see results. When we took our son off dairy, we saw similar results though he ended up to have celiac disease that caused lactose intolerance.

they both can have yogurt and cheese, but they can't yet drink milk without problems. they're 16 months, and 2.5.

I agree with the other moms, Brat Diet, in addition to the yougurt with Active cultures.

Give him pedialyte, to replenish his electrolytes.

Stay away from so much dairy.

he may just have a sensitivity to the dairy or it could just be you gave him too much at once.

OR it could just be the combination of the illness and the dairy

We just don't know.

So as suggested,

Yougurt, Bananas , applesauce, rice, toast.

All very good.

As for diaper RASH,
BUTT PASTE is AWSOME
TRIPLE PASTE is also really good.

And Use a warm wash cloth ot wipe his bum and not wipes, because they have alcohol in them and can cause irritation aswell.

Let him walk around with no pants on to let a little air get at his bum and help it heal.
