Hi everyone,

SO - I'm slowly tiptoeing into the 21st century and I bought myself an Ipod Touch with my Christmas Money.

I'm curious what YOUR favorite (non-game) aps are? I'm not into playing games, so I really am interested in how you use your Iphones and Ipad aps to make your life as a SAHM easier.

Thanks!

J.

Facebook. Groupon. a GPS system (I use telenav). I love my cable TV app - it lets me record on my DVR from anywhere. Barnes and Noble. Guilt. One King's Lane. Joss and Main. Rue Lala. Stachefy (puts mustaches on people). iTriage. Action Movie FX - totally fun app - take a video and then blow something up. I heart Radio. Local news. Pinterest. The weather Channel. Blush (wines). LinkedIn. Macys. Dominos (yes I've ordered pizza via an app). Fandango (movies). Flashlight. Name Scream (fun). Open Table. Ebay. Yelp.

Enjoy your new iPod!

IMDB, Realtor/Trulia/Zillow (I'm not looking to buy a house, just nosy), Amazon, eBay, Kindle (my personal money pit), Flashlight, TripAdvisor, GoodReads (to keep track of the too many books I bought through Kindle), WebMD (so I can get paranoid about my health that much easier!), and RedBox. I have others, but those are the ones I use the most. ITunes U looks interesting but I haven't had much time to use it yet.

ETA: I guess those aren't really mom apps. The best mom apps are for kids so you can keep them from completely freaking out in the store. Just kidding! (mostly...)

I love my Cozi app. I have it on my Iphone. It is a organization/calendar app. I can make grocery lists, to do lists, and add things to a calendar and have it send me reminders. There are quite a few things I like about it. I have it set up with all the family members and can assign each person specifically to their event and who goes or if we all go. Also, all family members can sign into it. Right now, of course the kids don't use it as they are still young, but my husband is able to sign in and add things or check out whats going on. (Although I admit he hardly ever does) I just keep imagining my girls getting older and using it.

Another few non game apps I like are

My local newspaper & news station apps

Pandora - a music app

and

The Kindle App - I'm able to get books from the library, share/borrow books from other friends and family. I actually read more on my iphone because its always with me than anything else.

Honestly, I use my iPhone and iPad for gaming mostly. I also use them for news, banking, and email. But really, that's the main thing. I have apps for Shutterfly so I have access to all of my pictures on a regular basis. I have an app for a calendar and grocery shopping, but I don't use them. I use the notepad often, but that's really it.

Added: Yep! I forgot about Music. I use iHeartRadio mostly, Pandora sometimes.

I need to get the Kindle app myself because my Kindle is not always with me :).

My favorite apps, and they are all free:
Facebook
MyFitnessPal (diet/fitness tracking app)
OurGroceries (makes shopping lists, and can be shared between people, so my husband and I can both add to the list, and we instantly both see everything that is one it)

Plus, I extensively use the calendar and email apps that came on the phone.

I also have a few toddler/elementary school educational apps (e.g. 2nd grade math game app) that I use to keep my kids entertained while waiting for food at restaurants.

I just got an ipad, and it is sooooooo great! I have downloaded tons of interactive games for my kids, the Bible in a gazillion translations, a kindle app, recipes and on an on, pretty much anything that pops in my head i just search for an app :) I made some yummy pizzas on whole wheat tortillas and just put my ipad on top of the microwave for the recipe instructions, it was fab. My 5 yr old loves drawing and practicing letters on it, it is just tons of fun. Today I am laid up with a really bad back strain and I am right in the living room with my kids while my mom is caring for the kids for me and i am getting to doodle on mamapedia :) There is just no end to the fun for me :)
