Hello T.
I may have something that will help and I do know of some homeopathic DR. I could give you their # if you would like they are really nice.

I am looking for any other mom's who might be dealing with one of their children having that wart like rash molluscum. My six year old contracted it from one of his cousins last summer. It stayed pretty mild on his knees only until two weeks ago when one on his inner thigh got infected. He had to go on Keflex and since about twenty more warts have popped up on his legs and bottom. My ped said to leave them alone and that they would go away in about a year. They are getting worse though and I saw some homeopathic treatments online. I don't know if I want to spend over one hundred dollars on something that my doctor doesn't suggest and is on the internet. Just looking for any other mom's who might be going through the same thing and to see what has worked for them if they tried anything. Please! I need some help with this pesky rash! Thanks, T.

My three-year old daughter got molluscum contagiosum last summer too and it still hasn't gone away. From what I've read, having eczema can make it more difficult to get rid of (several years, not months). She eventually gave it to my five-year old son, they had been bathing together for months. I want it gone but we're still struggling with it and treating their eczema is complicating the issue.
This is what we've been doing:
Take separate showers not a joint bath, use a fresh towel each night, pat dry, carefully apply Eucerin lotion (to keep skin from itching so they don't scratch)--apply to non-infected areas first so as to not spread it further, wear clean pj's every night, apply Tretenoin cream, 1.0% (prescription from their dermatologist), cool-mist humidifier (to help keep skin from getting too dry), cover any that bleed with a band-aid, keep nails cut short and dull, wash hands regularly.
Also I started giving them fish oil supplements to help their skin and immune system. We use Nordic Naturals. It's made for children, tastes good, no chemicals or toxins.
In February my daughter had over 300 and my son had 100+. When it looked like they might start spreading to their hands and face I got very nervous, did lots of research and am trying to be more proactive. Since I've gotten more vigilant, I've noticed very few new ones and most seem to be going away. (I've had to be patient. It's been a long process.)
Our pediatrician told us the same thing yours did and wish I had started this routine earlier before they spread. I say treat it while it's a small outbreak.
Also, adults rarely get it and when they do it's spread as an STD and affects the genital area. (It's most common between the ages of 2-10 so try to keep your two-year old from getting it.) The online treatments all seemed to be scams but I understand feeling desperate.
If you've learned anything new, I'd appreciate any info you have.
Good luck!

They do just go away... But my son says it really itches so, we just treated the itch and it worked. The DR called in a hydracortasone (I think I spelled it wrong :) cream and I kept saying DON"T ITCH IT!!! It was on his elbow so we had him wear long sleeves. The less he touched it, the less it bothered him.
So sorry, all three of my kids got this last year. They are ugly and gross, and people ask about them, and I know they think-stay away from my kid!! I tried different creams, but didn't buy anything off the internet that was expensive. My advice to you is leave them alone, don't touch them, don't let him scratch them because they spread like crazy. We had some burned off my a dermatologist, and it was traumatic and painful. After 6-9months they did just disappear. It is like one day you wake up and they are gone. I would just ignore them and believe you ped. I didn't want to either, but it is true, they do just disappear. Be careful not to get them yourself!!
