I know teething is an issue that everyone deals and that there are the several basic steps to deal with it. I wanted to know if any of you mammas had any unique or non-traditional ways to help your little ones. We have done the basic Motrin, rubbing the gums, cold packs, teething tablets, etc. If anyone has any other suggestions I would love to hear them. My daughter is cutting two molars and is completely miserable!!

What can I do next?

Mine didn't have problems with her teeth except 1 molar. I didn't even know she had cut her bottom ones till I stuck my finger in her mouth and felt them. When she first began to teeth I gave her frozen waffles. LOL. The frozen ridges felt good against her gums and if she does happen to break a piece off its small and soggy from all the slobber. I only gave it to her until it starts to defrost. I also stuck moist wash cloths in the freezer and let them get icy. Good Luck!

in all honesty it may seem a little barbaric but this is a old wives, take your finger and dip it in a drak liquor(brandy etc.) and rub it on the gums. it helps.

I frequent the farmers markets here in Portland, and a lot of people use bee pollen as a natural pain killer.
It comes in granulated little pebbles- just grind some up, mix a little water to form a paste and rub it on the gums to numb it a little.
Tons of protein too.

When my little guys were teething, I quarted bagels and froze them to help with the pain. Both of them liked the bagels, and they usually ate the whole thing. Good luck!

I also used carrot, the baby carrots. Sometimes we used chilled wooden crafts sticks, which my daughter loved to gnaw on. Very effective. The other thing I also did was to dampen about a quarter of a clean plush wash cloth and put it in the freezer. She also loved the relief that provided, in addition to the texture. You know how kids love textile at this age, so that option worked doubly good.

Good luck!

Go buy the del monte fruit chillers in the store down the canned fruit isle, they go in the freezer and then break off pieces to give her, my daughter loved these and they melt easily

Molars are the worst! With all my kids, I've just kept a tube of orajel or Ambesol with me or near me. When they got fussy, I tried a little application of that on the gums and most often, that seemed to bring relief. My folks used to rub ground cloves on our gums when we were teething (before orajel, etc.) I've also tried freezing carrot sticks, and letting them gnaw on them right out of the freezer. They lose their brittleness when frozen, so it's pretty safe for them to gnaw on without getting little pieces to choke on. There are also pacifier/s teethers specifically designed for teething, and using on those back teeth. My kids also had sinus/diarrhea side effects with teething, so I made sure they wre in clean diapers quickly, and elevated the head end of their crib a tiny bit by putting something under those two wheels/legs at the floor. Hope this helps.
