Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin

I am very sensitive to facial moisturizers and they all make my eyes tear and turn red, even Clinique. The dermatologist says to use aquaphor but you can't use that under makeup. Any advice on store bought or natural?

Edit: I don't put the regular moisturizer near my eyes but it still makes me react, not sure why. I can put it only on my forehead or chin only and my eyes still react. Im sensitive to most eye creams also. Im good with Clinique Moisture Surge and Dramatically Different Lotion but those don't seem rich enough or to give my skin the moisture it needs. I tried Cliniuque Super Rescue Antioxidant and Super Defense Daily Defense and reacted to both. I have bad sun damage but can't use retinols either.

What can I do next?

I LOVE dr hauschka's Rose cream.. NOT the day cream.. that is stronger .. the rose cream is rich and a little dab will do ya... and at 50 (my skin is much dryer) and needs it.. it doesn't make me break out... I LOVE it.. been using it for years. it's pricier.. but IF you find a retailer, like say whole foods, they may have a sample to give to you.. Or try it there in the store.. good thing about WF.. even if you don't like it, they will take it back.. as mentioned, it's pricier.. but I have had good results..

Try a very small amount of coconut oil at night (not under makeup).
I use to be able to wear eye make up but my eyes are sensitive to everything now - so I don't bother with it anymore.

I like Aveeno Truly Radiant Moiturizer.
Also like Simple Hydrating -- you can get both at Target.

Clinique bothers my skin as well!

Would you consider using coconut oil, olive oil or aquaphor as a night cream? Might give you the moisturization that you need without stinging your eyes or complicating your makeup routine.

I don't wear makeup, save for the occassional lipgloss/ lipliner. So I am not the best to ask.

Best,

My face is sensitive, as well. With some trial and error, I have had good luck with Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer with spf 15. I don't use it near my eyes, though. For that I use the Target brand Lifting Serum Eyes Wise.

Try Vanicream. They have several different moisturizer products. It is specifically made for highly sensitive skin. I think it was originally developed for cancer patients. No dyes or perfumes. You can usually find it at Target (usually in the pharmacy areas, not the makeup or moisturizer aisles) or most pharmacies.

I have face cream and I have eye cream. Any moisturizer not made for eyes will make my eyes water as you describe. Takes a bit longer but worth it.

I use Aveeno Truly Radiant Moiturizer. I love it - my skin is extremely sensitive...the only make-up I can wear without issue is mascara. But this lotion doesn't bother my face at all. My skin is really soft and I just love it.

It's on the pricey side, but it lasts forever. I always keep an unopened one in my stash so if the one I'm using runs out I have a new one to grab...one bottle lasts me a long time too.

Clinique? Are you getting it too close to your eyes?

I use Clinique Repairwear Serum, Kaplan MD essential essence oils, Trish McEvoy eye serum... With any of those great products.... IF I get it in my eye, it will burn. I only use Eye cream near my eyes.

Make sure you are not getting your product too close to your eyes.

My dermatologist recommened CeraVe pm. I use the daily defense, but don't put the lotion next to my eyes. If I do pool/beach days, I just use the coppertone baby sunscreen. I found that using the green Clarins facial cleanser for dry skin has helped me overall as well. good luck.

Have you tried Cetaphil? They make one for sensitive skin. I have rosacea and have found it's about all I can use anymore.

Try Eucerin CoEnzyme Q10 wrinkle cream for sensitive skin. It is in a small jar for your face. I really love it - it works well for sensitive!

I also have very sensitive eyes and have pretty good success with Olay Daily Moisturizer- Sensitive Skin (SPF 15).
At night, I use MetaDerm. Love this stuff and it's all organic. When you first put it in your hand, you think it will be heavy but it leaves your skin feeling soft and not greasy. I sometimes use it under makeup , too. Just depends on whether I will be out in the sun a lot or not.

I second Cetaphil. I love the stuff in the tub ... but might be greasy. My other favorite line is Origins... both are great for sensitive skin.

I have a cousin that uses coconut oil. She has very sensitive skin and it works for her. Just straight coconut oil:-)

I react to everything made my Clinique. However, I've had no problem with the old fashioned, relatively inexpensive Dove that comes in a little tub with a light blue lid.

The two things that I use are Lubriderm lotion and coconut oil, not necessarily together. I use either under my make-up. I rarely use dedicated eye or face moisturizers, unless somebody gifts me with it. I find such uncomplicated success with what I already have at home. If you use coconut oil all the time (overnight, without make-up, to remove make-up...), then you might need no more than a dab of any other moisturizer under your make-up. That might make a difference for you, as well.

Have you tried MaryKay's Botanical moisturizer? It is specifically made for sensitive skin, and is formulated for dry, normal, or oily skin. Let me know if you want to try it, I can send you a sample. Another option is to find a consultant near you and ask about it. :-)

(MaryKay has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so if you like the sample, buy a full size, and later discover it isn't what you want/need, you can exchange it for something else or get your money back.)
