I know I have asked this before, but as my due date gets even closer, I am freaking out that we STILL do not have a name picked out. I thought I would put a little poll out there to get some more opinions. We have decided on Quinn for the first name, now we are stuck on the middle name. Please let me know which one you like the best, unless you are my mother and reading this, please act surprised like you didn't see this at all when the baby arrives :-)
Quinn Abigayle (my middle name is Gayle)
Quinlan Abigayle (my husband prefers Quinlan over Quinn, thinks its more girly, but if we are going to call her just Quinn, I think we should just name her Quinn)
Quinn Talia
Quinn Malia
Quinn Noelle (we like the sound of this, but the baby, the pregnancy, etc do not have any connection to Christmas)
thanks for your opinions, I hope they help us out!
My first instinct is 'Quinnlan' with an 'A' looks like a boy if I were just reading the name. Why not Quinnlyn with a 'Y' instead. And since you have sucha unique first name, why not something a bit more classic for a middle name like Jane, Elizabeth, Rose, etc.

I'd go with Noelle. I don't think it matters that there's no Christmas connection...she's still a gift! I think it sounds the best. (I wouldn't pick Malia because I think there's going to be a lot of those floating around in the next few years.) Best of luck!

Who would have thought that picking out the name could be so hard!! After all most women have been thinking of names since we were kids (my girls do!).
I like the name Quinn and I think that if that is what you are going to call her then let that be her name. I also like the sound of Quinn Noelle. But what I would suggest is yelling the name in the house. Which name is easiest to yell? and if you have other kids do their names ryme? My name is S. Marie my sisters is Danielle Lee and when you say them they don't sound to much alike - but yell them and they got the same type of sound. We were always looking at each other and saying is she yelling at me or you? Then when my brother came along his name is Miguel and we were always confused.
For my 2nd child we picked my Mother-in-laws name. I was hopeing that it would help her to warm up to me and like me (WRONG!), but my little one's middle name is Theresa (my Dad's name is Terry so I just tell her she's named after him). My husband says that I picked his mom's name for our girl's middle name (who is a handful) just so that I can yell that name all the time - HA!
But I did do the name yelling thing to make sure the names flowed and were easy to yell. And there were a few combos that on paper I thought looked pretty and in my head sounded OK but when I said them out loud (or yelled) they just did not work. But my vote would be for Abigayle or Noelle. Good luck and God bless!!!

Out of the choices I would say Quinn Malia flows the best. Second choice out of the ones you named is Quinn Abigayle. Nice to have your middle name but the flow isn't as smooth. If you only go by the first name who cares about the flow, right?

I agree that you name her what you want to call her, but that's what my mom did with me! I'm also a school nurse and I have trouble entering records sometimes because the kids gave me a nickname and I can't find them because I don't know their real names!
I like Quinn. I think it is cute and I really like Quinn Noelle. My family disliked (still dislikes) my oldest child's name and my friends don't care for my youngest child's name. My thought was, I like so I don't care what you think. I also like the idea of yelling it just to make sure. After all, you'll probably be doing that a lot before you know it! Good luck!

WOW! I don't have time to check these all out...but, it seems like you will have some ideas with all the replies.
But, my first thought....why not Quinn Lynn. That way her name sounds like what your husband prefers and would sound more "girly" if that's what you later prefer. But, then her first name is Quinn, so you can call her by only that too.
Good luck in making your decision!

I would probably name her Quinlan. If he likes it, let him have his preference. Later, if she decides to go by her full name she has that option. I've always liked names you can shorten, for some reason. :)
As for the middle, I lean toward Abigayle since it has meaning for your family. If the name Noelle draws you, give it to her, or you could modify it slightly to Noella (I have a friend who named her dtr this).
All the middle names of our children hold some sort of meaning for our family: Firstborn's middle name (D) was part of an anagram of my and my hubby's names that was picked at my bridal shower. Our second child's is a combination of both his Grandpa's middle names. Our youngest was named for his great-grandfather who spoke up against Hitler.
With our 3rd child, we'd planned for almost the entire pregnancy to name him Morgan (my maiden name), but I kept being drawn to Mason. Within 5 hours of deciding to change his name, I went into labor. :D
Bottom line -- choose what speaks to you.

I vote for Quinlan Abigayle !
I think it is very lyrical, feminine, and brings to mind images of a very sweet, delicate-yet-strong, intelligent, precious little girl.
It will sound very strong and professional if she should grow up to be an important, doctor, lawyer, etc, yet it sounds like some one who is approachable and compassionate.
Having Quinlan on the birth certificate, even though being called Quinn at home, she will have a choice when she gets older as to which she prefers to use.
Congratulations on your soon to arrive little girl ! :)

I know a Talieh, so I have a reason to especially love that name. Talia (Talya) is Hebrew and means 'dew from God'. Talieh (accent on last syllable) is Persian and means 'first light of dawn'. But, I admit that combining either of these names with Quinn glides across the ears better with Quinn as the middle name, and that isn't what you are looking for. The same is true for Malia, Hawaiian for Mary, believed for some time to mean 'ocean of bitterness', but is most likely derived from the Egyptian name Mry, meaning 'beloved'. If I wanted that as a middle name, I would play with the spelling of Mry and make it something like Quinn M'ree.
But, I always look into the history (etymology) of a name and consider how the meanings of the names actually blend and compliment each other.
Quinn boils down to 'son of Conn' and Conn boils down to 'chief'. So, the meaning of Quinn is 'son of the chief'. Quinlan, however, means 'descendent of Caoinlean', and Caoinlean means 'slender'.
Abigayle means 'my father is joy'. So, combining either Quinn or Quinlan with Abigayle says 'daddy's girl' to me. That is a very sweet sentiment, if that is what you are going for.
Noelle does mean Christmas, but Christmas is a celebration of a birthday, of God's purpose being revealed to mankind. That works for me and works well with Quinn. These two really do sound great together, as well.
I did like the Quinn Lynn idea to give it a feminin feel, but you might tell your husband that Quinlan is just as male a name as Quinn. But, Quinn Noelle gives it the feminin touch.
You might take the pressure off by deciding to wait until you look into your daughter's eyes to make the final choice. Many cultures believe you should meet the child face to face before you can be sure of the name.
Above all, keep in mind that you are not just naming a baby. You are naming a teenager and an adult. Always consider how the name will look on a desk plate, on the cover of a book, or with Dr. in front of it. And, with a girl, always consider if the name will tollerate blending with other last names, since she may well take on her husband's name in the future. Names like Rose, for example, become a pun if she marries a Mr. Bush or Mr. Gardener or Mr. Redd, etc.
Anyway, hope my rambling thoughts help you sort out a decision you are both happy with!

I don't know which would be best because I don't know your last name.
When we chose names for our boys we made sure that their first, middle & last name flowed smoothy when yelled, (like when they are running toward the street).
I do like Quinlan because it will give her the choice of which she wants to use. There is nothing wrong with shortening a name. My name is Kimberly, but everyone calls me K.. I like having the choice of being called K. or Kimberly (Kimberly sounds more formal).
I hope this helps!
I also think it is silly & supersticious to not want someone to use a certain name because it 'has baggage'. Everyone in the world could be named Quin (or what ever) & we wouldn't all be the same & make the same mistakes in life. Please don't worry about that.
We named our oldest after a little boy that I had in daycare. This little boy would smile & go bite someone every day! My son never bit another child (he only bit me once when he was teething).
God bless!

Congrats on the new baby. I vote for Quinn Abigayle - I like the connection to your middle name and when I said the other ones aloud together with Quinn, they didn't flow as well. Also, I would advise you to go with Quinn rather than Quinlan because it will save you and her headaches later. My girls are Helen (goes by Ella) and Abigail (goes by Abby). It was a pain to explain to Ella's preschool teacher - politely of course - that I wanted her to redo the 3 different nametags on the first day b/c they all said Helen. We also had difficulty with medical stuff when she was born - our pediatrician sent out a perscription for 'Ella' b/c he thought that was her birth name and they refused to give us the prescription!
anyway - those are my opinions, I hope they help! (p.s. we are expecting again and this time, we've learned our lesson!! This one is Hannah Margaret :)

And the middle name, go with what you like. It doesn't matter that she isn't going to be born at Christmas! I am sure not every Noelle out there is a December baby. R.,
I do have to say that I love the first name Quinn or Quinlan. Quinlan because as she grows up she has the option to change it around as she grows. I also love the name N.. I am biased that this is my first name. I receive compliments and it makes me feel special that someone noticed and out of no where made me feel special. I named my daughter with the thought of as she grew she could use her name as it fit that time in her life. Addison Sinclaire is her full name but we all call her Addie. But my thought was that she could use Addison, Addie, Sinclaire, Claire etc. To me I wanted her to have options but they were all thought of ahead of time by her parents. One tip about the name N., Translated it means christmas. This you probably knew but I was born in July and my parents called me "christmas" in July and so used the name N.. Good luck with picking her name.
P.S. We didn't pick our daughters name until we saw her for the first time. Had to see her little face before giving her forever name.
First of all I don't think the formal vs informal should hold you back...if DH likes Quinlan, then put that on the birth cert...she can still always go by Quinn informally...my daughter does (she's Gabrielle and everyone calls her Gabby or Gabs).
I like two so you will have to pick from those (LOL) but I will tell you the reason WHY I picked the two I did...I like Quinlan Abigayle because I am a traditionalist and like to have SOME part of my child's name named after someone in the family. I also like Quinlan Noelle because you said "we" like the sound of it...it was the only one you BOTH said you liked... Noelle doesn't actually mean Christmas, it's orgin is French and means Birthday. Noel (male version) became the popularized version of this that became known as Christmas as we know it. I think it is a great name to celebrate the birth of a child and the peace that it brings.
I wish you the best of luck...perhaps you should just wait until she's born and see which one fits her best?

I personally like Quinlan Abigayle. Of course you may spell her name however you would like, but I agree with the other lady that suggested spelling it Quinlynn so people know she is a girl simply from reading her name.
Kids get teased for everything these days and having her name spelled in a more feminine way gives her more options for nicknames that she may prefer as she grows up. Yes, we all want to choose what we name our children; however, sometimes kids go through phases that they like other nicknames.
My sister-in-law and I both have names that can be used in full or as shortened versions (K. to Kathy and Kaylene to Kay). If you spelled her name Quinnlynn Abigayle she could go by Quinn, Lynn, Abby, or Gayle as she grows up.
Remember, you did ask for the advice; however, the choice is yours and she will adjust to whatever name you both give to her.
Congratulations on your upcoming new addition. May the delivery and birth go smoothly and may she arrive as a healthy little "Quinn" no matter how you spell it or whatever middle name she receives! Keep us posted and let us know what name she actually receives!
Have a great day!
