Hey everyone,
my question for you smart ladies is: what me and my family can do to meet more people. We live on Dyess AFB and really have no friends :( since my husband is military almost all of are friends have moved away (we will never leave this place, supid B-1). We have two girls ages 3yrs and a 9mo. old, so we want to meet families with small children, our 3yr old really needs more friends to play with.
please if you have any suggestions for what we can do to meet people that would be great. thanks
well, getting on here for one is a great start!! my dad is retired from Dyess, and so that's how I ended up here, and i dont live too far from the base. I have a 4 yr old daughter and a 9 yr old son. Shoot me an email sometime!! My daughter loves having play dates, and I can always use more friends too! have a good day!
Hi M.! We also live in Abilene. I hate to say we dont have a ton of friends either, but we do enjoy seeing friends at church (S. 11th & Willis C of C). Also, you might enjoy going to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). If you are interested I can get more info. from our sitter--she goes. I also take my son to the Grace Museum occasionally and get to visit with other moms there. It is free admission on Thursday from 5-8pm. Good luck! We'd love to meet you!

I lvoe close to Dyess Afb also. I've been here for almost 3 years. I feel the asme way that you do... All of my friends well, i go to church with them. lol. I have 3 little girls. I haev a 6, 4, and 20 month old. All girls. I am also a stya at home mom. My 4 year old goes to Locust headstart.

My hub used to work at Dyess. he used to build bombs and just got out of the service on a medical discharge.
Gl fidnign new friends. I knwo how ya feel. We were stationed at Sheppard AFB for 4 years and then came here and before than we were in Florida At Tyndall for awhile.. lol I got married had my first child and then got orders to TExas. Oh, how I miss Florida...
Abilene, is nice. There is alot to do in abilene.. There is a zoo, the mall. Acutally, at the mall they have a play area for kids...

You could try the stay-at-home moms meetup group. Go to meetup.com and find the SAHM's group for Abilene. They are a bunch of really nice ladies and children and dues are only $12 per year.

I'm one of the Mentors for the group that meets at Highland Church of Christ two Mondays per month; there is also a group that meets at Beltway Baptist. The Highland group has a lot of military wives. Our next meeting is Monday, Oct. 27, and we'd love to have you check us out.

We're stationed at Dyess too. There's not a whole lot to do here compared to where I moved here from. Does your squadron have a playgroup that meets every week? We're in the 40th AS. My husband is an FE on the c-130's. Our squadron has a playgroup every wed. I do also know that the base church has a playgroup for your age daughter. I'm not sure what time or what day.
Maybe you could contact your squad head spouse, andlet your squad know that you'd be willing to host a playgroup at your house to meet other mothers in your squad. Hope that helps. I don't get to make it out of house lately. Kids have all been taking turns being sick.. Gotta love Abilene.
