Meal Ideas for Toddlers

Hello, my son is almost 12 months old. He has become a rather picky eater. He only eats solid foods (foods that we eat) and formula. Maybe he is getting bored with what I am giving him. Does anyone have any ideas of some easy or fast toddler meals to try with him? I would really love to see what everyone feeds their kids. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I suggest making chicken noodle soup. My son loves it. Here's what I do and use:
1.Saute carrots, celery, and onions in olive oil.
2.Add one box of Rachael Ray's Chicken Stock, bring to a boil. Then add about 1 to 2 cups of Whole Wheat Rotini noodles. Boil until soft.
3. Add chicken ( I've used rotissere chicken, canned, fresh/ frozen). And then just let the cooked chicken get warm.
It's not really soupy, so my little man usually just uses his hands.

Not really a meal, but my son loves Yo-Baby Yogurt. Hope this helps a little!

At that age our daughter ate everything we ate...just smaller portions. Spaghetti (cut up of course or pasta of any kind basically), PB & J sandwiches, mac and cheese, turkey, chicken, quesadillas, etc.

It helped to change the way I served the food.

Put chunks of food on stick pretzels and my son would grab them and munch the whole thing down.

Another thing I did was put each thing in it's own little tiny bowl (ramekin).

Also try putting things into an ice cube tray. The little compartments are more interesting.

Dip, like ranch dressing, mayo or ketchup is also fun.

At that age, my kids would eat a scaled down version of what we were eating. Meaning I would make their portion without seasoning, salt and the like and the consistency was what they could handle but it was the same balanced meal we were eating. I'm not big on "kid food" and giving the kids something different than we are eating once they are able to tolerate it. Given his age, not everything you eat will be appropriate but he should be able to handle the easier things like very soft cooked veggies, rice mashed up a bit, mashed sweet potato, soft fruits, low-sodium cheese, avocado, etc.

My daughter went thru phases. She was a champ veggie eater then wouldn't touch them now we are back to champ veggie eater. Just continue to offer healthy meals and don't get into that "my child will only eat mac and cheese or grapes" circle.

I have a fourteen month old who eats everything, even things we don't want him to eat. But we feed him right along with us. IF we are having pancakes and sausage he does to. If we are having black eyed peas, rice, and chicken. So does he

I agree w/ he eats what you eat. I also, cut out as much processed food as I can and keep the sodium low. It encourages me to eat better too! He will go through phases, just keep offering him the good stuff and he'll come around.
