Have you looked into the place that sends the fliers home every week in their Wednesday envelopes? My kids get them all the time, but we haven't checked into it yet.
Hi. We live in Bloomington and my 6 year old son is interested in doing some type of martial arts. Does anyone have some tips on a good place to go that isn't too intense for my sensitive kid.

Try your school district's community ed program. You can get a catalog on line or check with your school district. I am in Eagan and that's how my son took martial arts--through community ed.
My daughter and I both train at National Karate. We've been to classes both in S. Mpls and Eagan. I've met many of the teachers at the other schools, also. I'm a Black Belt now and she is a Brown stripe. She started when she was five.
I don't think their classes are too intense for children. They offer a two week trial period so you could see if their style works for your son.
We did a trial period at Boltz Tae Kwan Do in Mendota Heights (near 494 and 10). It was great. My daughter (7) loved it and she is shy about trying new things. Ultimately, we had to quit because we live in Maplewood and the drive home after the lesson was too late for my son and he wasn't getting enough sleep. We hope to try it again when my kids get a little older. That may end up being too far for you too, but it's a really great place.
