J.K.
.
I have been out of sorts the last couple of days. The last 2 weeks have been really busy(plus I have hard time sleeping and getting good sleep), last week soccer camp at 9am every morning plus regular practices for both kids, soccer for daughter baseball for son, plus getting ready for school to star, cleaning and shopping all day Saturday, soccer tournament on Sunday followed by team BBQ at my house, which only 1/2 the team ended up showing up for, I was kinda bummed about that the other team mom and I worked hard at getting it together, ok move on to yesterday and today. I was so exhausted and sore yesterday (autoimmune, kicks my A** when I overdo it) little sleep last night and exhausted again today, but not as sore YAY! So finally getting to the question, when you feel not so with it and you are just hanging at home do you feel better if you "put your face on'.? i am in athletic shorts and a tank, seriously HOT here, and I keep thinking maybe if I fix myslef up a bit I might feel a little more human today, then I think why do I want to put make up on just to be at home, i should let my face breath. Your thoughts mamas!
Thanks moms! And by the way I do get up and shower and get dressed every morning! Usually the first thing I do besides get kids ready and off to school. I think I will add the makeup to that regimne except for days where I have to get down and dirty with major house work! :)
.
I always get completely ready! Every day. I shower, do my hair and put on makeup. My hubby has been out of town the past 3 weeks and I still get ready. I think it's partly out of habit, partly because i still go places and want to look nice and partly because I feel better when I'm clean and put together. My hubby was joking with me recently that the only time he's seen me without make up for a full day is when I've had the flu. THat's it! haha
I only put on make up if I'm going out or having company, and even then, I don't bother for my closest friends. I have better things to do, I guess.
Unless you are putting on stage makeup every day, your skin can probably breathe with makeup on.
You can be over-busy and over-tired, but don't stop taking care of yourself. That's like making your day even harder than it is.
When I'm sick or down or exhausted or busy, I make sure to put my makeup on (unless I'm so sick I can't get out of bed). It doesn't even take me five minutes - and it makes me feel better if I glance in the mirror and discover I look better than I feel. And even strangers shouldn't have to look at me and think, "Oh, what a pity - when did she die?"
I think it really depends on one's habits... I don't wear makeup, maybe a bit of powder at the most. That said, I feel trashy until I take a shower and wash my hair, so unless I am working in the garden or some other activity that's going to make me sweaty anyway, it's one of the first things I do. In fact, when my little guy was very little, I still make sure I got a shower once a day. Can't do without it.
I'm looking forward to seeing if any dads chime in on their grooming habits.
Hope you feel better and get some rest soon!
As a SAHM, i do not wear it everyday. However I do wear it at least twice a week or I feel too frumpy. I don't know about you guys but I have ugly days (hair does not get brushed, house cleaning clothes, sweaty, bloated....). After an ugly day I have to do my hair and face and wear something cute even if I'm not planning on leaving the house or I just get depressed and feel ugly. But when you are packing it in something has to give, for moms, Its usually our appearance. I think its okay if you are in a stage. And can I just say if I lived in Sacramento I would not be putting on makeup in this heat.
I work from home and only put on makeup now when hubs and I go out to eat or sometimes to church. Other than that, my face breathes all the time. =)
ETA: I had to go look, but my profile pic is from my 45th bday this year when we met some friends bowling. I didn't wear makeup for that either. =)
I shower and get myself fixed up everyday. I can't function without my shower, freshly washed hair and make-up. I don't wear heavy make-up but I do make sure I look nice everyday.
That said, I also work from hom with our business (raw materials, consulting, brokering) and I am often running out to a supplier to pick up a sample to fedex to a potntial customer. So I stay on ready to go.
Also, I feel better when I am fresh vs no make-up, unwashed hair.
I do wash my face in the early evening with my routine skin care and my skin is able to breathe.
Oh, I used to. I'm talking teenage years to mid 30s. Now when at home (and if staying home), I like to give my skin a break and go w/out makeup. My skin seems so much nicer after a day or two w/out it.
yup. but i J. wear eyeliner and mascara at times
I don't wear a lot of make-up. Even when I was working and went to office everyday, my make-up was just some talcum powder (I don't use foundation), some eye-liner or kohl, a lip balm or lipstick on some days. When am at home, unless am entertaining, I never wear make-up. Sure, I shower and get into clean comfy clothes, and brush and tie-up my hair. But no make-up.
These days, being a SAHM, sometimes when I even head out to the store, all my make-up is just a clean scrubbed face and moisturizer, and a lip balm!
Make up is for weddings, funerals, job interviews, and the rare night out. That's it. Period.
If I had a few busy days in a row like you, I might not bother. I don't wear foundation ever, but everyday, no matter what, I put on concealer and mascara. Just part of the routine and takes 30 seconds.
I don't wear a lot of makeup in general. If I want to feel more human, I'll take a shower and do something other than a pony tail. Or do my nails (which I get to look at). If it would make you feel better, though, what about some nice lipgloss? Not heavy or difficult.
I don't put makeup on to go to work, I'm damn sure not going to put it on to fold laundry and scrub toilets.
I do. Everyday, something. If home all day I'm in a tank top and pajama pants or yoga pants and a tank. Hair in a messy bun, and at least brows in place, mascara, powder, and lipgloss.
Exactly what you're thinking and the poster below says, it just makes me feel more awake, prettier, and put together!
I usually dab on some concealer to hide the dark circles, maybe a little mascara... I don't have anyone to impress- but it at least feels like I tried and I won't be humiliated if someone stops by...also like to be a 'little' together- even if I am im workout clothes or pjs for when my hubby comes home...YES honey, I'm wearing what I wore to bed last night- but did you notice my lashes? Lol- makes no sense, I know- but I've done it more times than I'd like to admit:)
The only time I don't put on makeup is if my hubby has taken the kids to visit his parents and they're staying overnight. Why? Because I know I won't be going out anywhere because those are the days I love working around the house with no one getting under my feet and I can get all dirty and sweaty and not care how I look!
Any other day, unless I'm really really sick, I'll get up and put on my face, get a shower and get dressed - it always makes me feel better.
If nothing else, I won't scare my dog when he looks at me!! lol!!
No. I rarely put make up on for work unless I have a meeting or presentation.
I used to be a stickler about mascara, but recently had the lashes dyed (not bad) and am contemplating lash extensions just so I don't have to bother:)
Make up at home only if we are hosting more than our close friends.
I'm a redhead and have no choice. I have to wear makeup every day or I look sickly. I just do the basics most days, though (esp. in his awful Sacramento summer) -- powder foundation, brow powder, mascara, eye liner and lipstick or tinted lip balm. I do feel a lot better wearing makeup but that's only because I look horrible without it. If I had natural coloring, though, I think I'd just go without makeup.
I've been a SAHM for over 12 years. I shower every morning and yes, I put makeup on every day. Not a lot, but foundation (my skin is unevenly toned), powder, blush, a little eye makeup, eye liner & mascara. I feel better knowing I'm pulled together.
Nope! When I'm at home I dont wear makeup. I am wearing home shorts, and a tank top right now. I just dont bother anymore unless I am going somewhere special.
Me personally? I never wear makeup :) I have makeup, very nice, good makeup (Mary Kay), but it's just such a pain to have to wash it off every night. Plus, I like my skin, so why mess with a good thing? :)
I don't wear make-up at home. Only when I go out.
My kids and husband don't even know when I have make up on or not.
