Lower Back Pain - White Lake, MI

Hey Moms,

I've had 3 babies and my last is 6 months old. I have had the epidural shot with all 3. I was wondering if any of you Moms have had lower back pains or pinched nerves AFTER your pregnancy. I have been working out to taebo and I'm wondering if that is too much still because all of a sudden my lower back is bothering me. I've been working out ever since I got my okay at 6 weeks post pregnancy. Its weird cuz it is that same feeling as if I was big and pregnant. I haven't worked out this week and I think I am gonna wait until the pain goes completely away before I try to get back to taebo. I hope it is just because my body is still not back to normal instead of something caused by taebo. I've been doing taebo for years so I don't think it could be from the workout itself.

What can I do next?

Hi Marcia,

I had a herniated disk after I had my daughter, which pinched my sciatic nerve and caused extreme lower back pain. I saw my PCP and a chiropractor and nothing was helping. Finally my doctor prescribed physical therapy and that helped tremendously. Beaumont has a physical therapy center at the Beverly Hills Club and they offer really good child care for a nominal fee.

Hope this helps and you feel better soon!

Marcia, you are supposed to ease back into shape before going to Taebo. Yoga positions will help strengthen your muscles back to health. Taebo is just too strenuous. Your body went through a major change and it needs time to get back to where you were. There is a program (PBS)in the morning about 6:30am or 7:00am where "Priscella ?" demonstrates the finest yoga positions for your body. I just turned 50 & I cannot believe how much this woman has helped me. I wish I'd have tried yoga when I had my child. It would've made for a stronger body.
Good luck. She has tapes for sale on the program too, but your local library should have some as well.

Hi Marcia, The only thing that I would recommend would be to see a chiropractor. I know people are skeptical of them, but I am currently under the care of a chiropractor and I haven't felt better. I also suffered from lower back pain and headaches and they are pretty much gone. You may have a couple of vertebrae that are out of place and causing your pinched nerve pain. If you decide to go this route, I recommend Healthquest Chiropractors. You can find a location near you by visiting their website. Good luck! -J.

Hi Marcia,
I had all three of my children naturally with no pain medication. After my third was born I had extreme back pain. I went to my PCP and was referred to a back clinic. I went through months of testing and found out that while I was pushing my son out, I broke my tailbone. You might want to consider seeing your doctor. I went through physical therapy and I am fine now. Good Luck

It could be your muscles. I weighed 120 before my first child and I'm 5'9. My son was born 9lb 3oz and my second son was 8lb 15oz. Due to my size and theirs along with carrying them up front, it took a toll on my back muscles. My daughter was small "thank goodness" but sad to say 10 years later I still have back problems. The only help my doctor has given me was for me to take muscle relaxers when I'm in pain. Well with 3 kids I don't have time to be knocked out :( And I have not ever had an epidural shot. So not sure if I was any help but if you find out what's going on please let me know. I'm too young to have back pain forever!

It could be constipation or the wrong exercises. Try doing the pelvic thrust or lying on/with your back on the floor/wall and bow your back towards the floor/wall and hold the position to the count of ten. Try this several times a day for several weeks. If this doesn't help in 2-3 wks check with your physician. T.

I had a lot of back pain when my son was little. My doctor said it was from, lifting, bending, nursing in strange positions, etc. It is probably not from exercising. Your stomache muscules are probably still not doing enough work and your back is compensating.

I know exactly how you feel! I was pregnant with a herniated disc and a slightly cricked spine! So it hurt so bad once I got bigger that I could barely do anything! So if you feel like you did while you were pregnant and you said you did TiBo, then they'res definatlly an ongoing problem, then you should go talk to your doctor about getting an MRI! And MAybe phisical therapy! I know how it works cause I've been through it all! First they ussually x-ray you and if they don't find anything there then they do an MRI! And then you can get on pain pills, physicl therapy, or cortasone shots!

My thoughts would be that you probably pushed yourself to hard and something is outta wack. Try a chiropractor, they're inexpensive and very effective.
