Biaggis in Eden Prairie has a private room. I don't know if the one in Maple Grove has. They do have excellent food.
My mom is turning 70 soon, and she said that all she wants is for the family to enjoy a nice dinner out at a restaurant that has a private room (smallish--we're only 7 people + possibly 4 kids). Any recommendations of a place on the west side of the metro (394/494)? I have never tried the Radisson on Campus Drive/494 area, but that is one place I have thought of. (Obviously the food should be good, too!) We have a severely Scandinavian palate, so spicy stuff is probably not the best bet!

Hazellwood Grill has a perfect room for you! The food is very good and definitely palatable for Minnesotans. It is in Tonka Bay, near Excelsior.
I think the place is called Dave and Busters. It's in Maple Grove. I know it's not that close but I thought I'd tell you anyway. Davanni's has a private area and I know that our local Chinese Buffet has a private area so maybe others do too.
We had our wedding reception at the Radisson in Plymouth 8.5 years ago and LOVED it. However, I don't know if they cater to small parties. It might be worth a call. I also know the Green Mill in Plymouth does small private parties. We looked at them for our small groom's dinner. We ended up having it at the banquet room at Spectrum bowling, which might be another option for you. Happy Birthday to your mom!
I'm not sure if you mean West St. Paul or the Westside of St. Paul, but I love a Mexican restaurant on the Westside called "Boca Chica." I'm sure you could make arrangements for private seating there. It is big, and has many rooms. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is nice. It is not fast food, but a moderately priced sit-down restaurant and cantina. It's off Robert St.
If you're meaning West metro, near the airport, try some of the restaurants in the Mall of America. I'm a fan of the Napa Valley Grill, and the Twin Cities Grill. I don't know if these restaurants have private dining.
