I just recently moved to Asheville, NC from Seattle. I loved my pediatrician there but now need to find someone new. Do you live here and love your pediatrician? If yes, please tell me who and why they're great! I'm desperate for recommendations.

What can I do next?

We bring our daughter to Dr. Dephouse at ABC Pediatrics. We moved here 2 years ago and his office was highly recommended to us by other parents. We have been very happy with them. One of the things I especially like is that they have a walk-in clinic every morning at 8:00 am - which is very nice when our daughter gets sick and needs to be seen as soon as possible!

Good luck finding a pediatrician - I'm sure there are plenty of great ones to choose from and that you will find one you like!

Hi A. - we are recent residents of Asheville as well, having just moved here last fall. We love ABC Pediatrics - we see Dr. Hope Mustoe - just lovely!! If you'd prefer a male, Dr. Love, Dr. Dephouse -they are supposed to be a great as well. They may not be accepting new patients at this time. The were not accepting new patients when we moved here last November, but I waited until the spring and was able to get in during a short window where they were accepting. It was worth the wait. I have also heard just wonderful things about Dr. Carol Long at Mountain Area Pediatrics. Our daughter doesn't get sick often, so I felt comfortable waiting until the spring in hopes of becoming one of Dr. Mustoe's patients. I kept in contact with my former ped in the meantime if there was anything I needed advice on...
Good luck and welcome to Asheville!!!

We go see Dr. Haaksma at Community Family Practice. I like most of the Docs. Dr. Haaksma is awesome...we love him. The overall practice...alright...though about changing a couple times because of the nurses taking so long to call me back about a pretty serious matter. He came highly recommended from the local La Leche League...and Ashevillemamas yahoo group. I have also heard Dr. Burnstein is great...don't know the name of his practice...these are the two that were recommended to us when we moved here.

Community Family Practice on Merriman Avenue in Asheville is great. Any of the doctors or nurse practitioners are very competent. My daughter went there for our grandson when he had problems and they were excellent. He got most of his immunizations there, and the only reason my daughter doesn't go there now is because she moved.
Also I've had outpatient surgery from Dr. James Haaksma, and was pleased with the treatment I got, and the follow ups. He's been my personal care physician for almost 8 years.
They are a team of medical professionals where the whole family can go, and if needed they will make referrals for any specific medical problems. They're also an excellent source for community programs that are available in the Asheville area.
