Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for a good Pediatrician... does anyone out there love their pediatrician in Denton TX?
I have had a good look with the Cooks children clinic at 1160 n. Bonnie Brae. We use Dr. Van Maele. There phone number is ###-###-####. I have older kids but she is really sweet.
My friend is a pediatrician in corinth (just outside of Denton) Her name is Rhonda McDowell. Her office is on Swisher (2181). Their office is called Corinth Family Practice. Good luck
I take my daughter to Dr. Marquis Nuby. He is the best he is hands on with her and explains everything in great detail. I found him because my daughter was really sick at 6 weeks and she was hospitalized and the pediatrician that I had for her did not go to the hospital that we were at. We fell in love with him and have been with him for over a year now.
We love Dr. Jeremy Baker east of Denton at the Presbyterian complex in CrossRoads
Dr. Day at Cook Children's off of Teasley, he is excellent!
Dr. Stephen Schulman is good. I grew up in Denton and my Dad was the CEO of the hospital for several years. The current CEO is a long time friend of mine too so I'm pretty familiar with doctors around the area. My brothers kid go to Dr. Schulman. I'd call and make an appointment to visit with him...most pediatricians do that so you can meet them BEFORE you bring your newborn in. Good luck!!
hi M.! i have three children that go to Dr. Stephen Schulman. I LOVE him as well as his staff and his PA Marlene. They do not believe in over medicating. They do not 'throw' meds at any and all illnesses. If it's needed they will do it, but if not, they won't. They are very down to earth and don't make you feel bad when you call in as an overreacting mom (and we all do at times).
If Dr. Schulman is full, my sister takes her little girls to cookes children in denton. There is a husband and wife Dr. team that she really likes.
Good Luck on your search and congrats on your new little angel!

Dr. Squires ###-###-####
Dr. Day with Cooks Pediatric Group ###-###-#### he is fantastic!
Dr. Nuby is fabulous. When we first moved up here, we had not yet bought a house and had to live with the in-laws for about 6 weeks. Well, both children got extremely sick the first day we were here. Dr. Nuby took very good care of us. Many of the other pediatricians when they found out we would not be staying suggested going to a minor emergency clinic, but Dr. Nuby and his staff agreed to see us, took very good care of us and I would recommend him very highly.
We are very happy with Pecan Creek Pediatrics. The doctor is Dr. Glenna Harris. She is very down to earth, takes a lot of time to listen and talk, and never overbooks. She's very thorough, and will talk to you about any questions you might have, etc.
Dr Jones or Dr Adams. My little one has been going to Dr Jones since she was born and Dr Adams is her partner and just as great. Denton north pediatrics 2609 Scripture (by Presby) ###-###-####
Good luck! S.
Amy Adams in Denton is great. Carrie Jones is the other doctor in their practice and she seems great too. Interview a few and go with who you feel most comfortable.
good luck!
You might wait a little at the Cooks Children on Bonnie Brae, but I love them there! I take my 3 children to see Dr. Janke. Shes been in practice for a long time and has a lot of wisdom. She also comes to the hospital to check the baby. I took my daughter of 2 months old there for a check up. She had been spitting up a lot out of her mouth and nose and couldn't sleep well at all. Dr Janke listened to the symptoms and right away said she had reflux. She put Kamryn on Medication, and from that very night (at 2 months old and every night after) she slept straight through the night, she's now 2. The nurses are awesome and really make the kids feel a little less scared about getting their shots. I've been going there for 4 years.
Sounds like you've had a lot of great advice. I'm sure there are a lot of great Pediatricians out there.
Both of my baby Docs are Dr. Nuby. He is an excellent Doc and really cares about his patients and the parents! Check out his website.... www.nubypediatrics.com
Let me know if you have any other questions..
I was recommended my sons school to use Dr. Newby, I had he was great and I am gonna be using him soon myself for my 2 yera old and my nine year old
The Cook Children's Group of doctors Goff, Goff, Torrie and Day are great! We chose Dr. David Goff. They tend to be very limited on accepting new patients so you may want to check with their office. They are located on the corner of Teasley and Lillian Miller (across the street from CVS). They have always been very accommodating and we've had many health issues to deal with. Their office number is ###-###-####. Best of luck and congrats on your first baby!
Drs Adams and Jones are relatively new to the area, and their newest partner is Dr Baker. A&J are located just next to Presby and Dr Baker is out on 380 near Paloma Creek. They are CHRISTIANS and they are wonderful. Our pedi is Dr. Adams, for our premie twin boys.
We interviewed several PEDI's before deciding who we wanted to care for our precious babies. Dr Adams is very approchable and realistic, sweet, professional, and most importantly a mom. I'd recommend any of the three.
Actually Dr. Adam McDowell, and Ronda McDowell ( both of them) are not very good physicians. The staff was unprofessional and really quite Rude. I gave this office several chances to redeem themselves, but when it came to my daughters life I ended it then. I would NEVER recommend this office to anyone!
Dr. David Goff, and his wife Dr. Karen Goff are excellent pediatricians. Because they are so good they have a waiting list and it's difficult to get on
it. If you can get in you will never leave! I hope that helps!

While Dr. Jones and Dr. Adams are good pediatricians, you should be aware of their ten minute "grace" period that applies to late arrivals for appointments. I had to wake my granddaughter up from her nap to make an appointment and was eleven minutes late. (If you have driven across Denton lately, you know that road and utility construction are constant and unpredictable.) Because we exceeded the "grace" period by one minute, we were told we would have to reschedule the appointment. So, I woke up a sleeping baby and maneuvered through three construction zones for nothing. I recognize the need to maintain a schedule, but this is an indication that the clinic is putting the schedule before the patient--in this case, a two-year-old child.
Although I do like the dr.s at cook childrens, I found that when I saw them I would have to wait A LOT!! I have switched to Dr. Amy Adams, and I absolutely love her. Her web address is www.mcnt.com. Good luck in your search. (BTW I have 4 children and have seen lots of pedi's in my several moves, and find her to be the most down to earth, willing to listen, and aggreeable to my ideas as well) ~A.~
We use Dr. Amy Adams and really like her and her staff.
We use Rhonda Mcdowell M.D. in Corinth. She and her husband Adam Mcdowell opened Corinth Family and Pediatrics. At least interview her and see if she is a good fit for your family.
Dr. Squiers is the ABSOLUTE BEST!
Dr. Day at Cooks Childrens off of Teasley Lane is great!! I know a few people who use Dr. Goff and they like him as well. You can also speak to a nurse 24/7 if you have any questions or problems during non-office hours.
absolutely go with dr squires at cook children's. he is located on bonnie brae near univeristy/380. he is GREAT!
Congrats I just had my first baby Last August and I have a couple suggestions. I first went to Dr. Susan Torrie at Cook Childrens on Teasley and I liked her, BUT I decided that I wanted to wait on doing vaccinations on my son until he was older and I wanted to break up the multi-dose vaccines, but they can not do that since they are not in private practice and run by Cook Childrens.
I am switching to Dr. Marla Conger in Highland Village and they only carry single dose vaccines in their practice. I have not seen her yet so I can't give my personal opinion but I have heard good things.
Good Luck!
We love, love, love our family physician, Scott Simms, MD. He is at 700 West Oak Street in Denton and his office number is ###-###-####. He will come to the hospital to be the doctor that sees your baby when born. He did the circumcision (if needed). And then the whole family can go. When we had the flu recently, we loaded up the minivan with all of us and he saw me as well. My husband also goes to him. I was skeptical about not having a pediatrician, but I tried 3 different ones when we moved to town and I absolutely love having everyone go to the same doctor. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and his office staff is great.
Dr. David Goff or his wife, Dr. Torrie or Dr. Day-all in practice together on Teasley Lane in Denton. Dr. Goff probably won't take any new patients, but call anyway and see if one of the others will. They are the best.
Dr. Carrie Jones and Dr. Amy Adams. They are wonderful. When my child is sick they always get her in, and if I just leave a message for the nurse I get a call back in a short amount of time. The medical assistances, nurses ect. are all wonderful. My daugther (4) loves the Doctors and all the staff. They are located off Bonnie Brae (by Presby. of Denton). ###-###-####.
