Hello....I'm a first time mom to be and I'm just beginning to start researching pediatricians in my area. The problem is that I know experience with a person is the best form of judgment and I don't have anyone to bounce questions off of. If anyone out there knows of a good doctor in the area please let me know who and what it is you like about them. I would really appreciate any help!!!
We go to Dr. Day and the whole staff is wonderful!!! I do not recommend Pecan Creek Pediatrics. We usually had to wait an average of 45 minutes in the patient rooms before we saw Dr. Harris. This a long time to keep a toddler entertained and the last straw was when they accidently gave us the wrong prescription for another child.

Contact Dr. Carrie Jones in Denton. She and the other doctor there (Amy?) are Both great and they really do care about the child and parents! The rooms are painted so cute and the overall feeling is that you are seeing someone that is knowledgable, confident and caring - all in the same person. My 13 year old son loves Dr. Jones! Phone is ###-###-#### and they are located off I35 close to Presby Hosp.

I have a 4-year-old boy and a 1-year old girl, and we go to Dr. Karen Goff. We've been to her husband, Dr. David Goff, too a few times. I think they're really good. Plus, they're connected with Cook Children's, so if you ever need more specialized care with anything, they can hook you up pretty well. Good luck!

We have a 7 year old and a 6 month old and we go to Dr. David Goff at Cook Children's off Teasley. He and his wife are both peds and parents of twins. I have heard great things about all of the physicians there.
But it is important for you to find a ped who will respect your parenting philosophy. For example, if you did not want to vaccinate you need to find a ped who will support you in your decision.
The nice thing about Dr. David (as we call him) is that he doesn't make you feel stupid and says it is okay to be utterly clueless. He does not overprescribe antibiotics and thinks that most kids are overly medicated, especially when it comes to ADD, ADHD, and the drug Ridilin (sp?). They are secretly open on Saturday mornings and if your child is sick you can walk in on Saturday.

I don't of any great pediatricians in Denton, but I can tell you not to go to Dr. Nuby who practices in the area. A friend of mine took her son there and even though she had concerns about his health and sleeping habits he ignored her and told her it was all normal and made her feel like she was paranoid. Turns out, she wasn't. He has problems that could have been avoided but instead it all worsened. :(

Dr. David Goff. Its part of a Cooks Childrens branch, so you always have the best referals. He is super nice, very thorough, and always listens to any questions, and doesn't make you feel dumb for asking the dumb ones! :-)
Good Luck!

We use Dr. David Goff and have seen his wife Dr. Karen Goff a few times, also. They are different doctors, but like them both. I have heard only excellent things about their partners, Dr. Torrie and Day, too. I like Dr. David because he has a great way of dealing with kids. He is straightforward and takes the time to answer all your questions. He is very thorough, too. Other things that are great about their practice is that they have sick and well waiting areas, so you don't expose your healthy baby to germs. Also, if you call with a problem or question, they will call you back quickly and give you all sorts of ideas to try. I've called about sickness, potty training and getting my son to sleep in his big boy bed and they have helped me with everything. Also, they will always squeeze your child in that day if they are sick. Good luck with whomever you choose and congratulations!

I don't know what part of Denton you are in (I'm in South Denton)or if you would mind driving across the lake, but I have had my children with MDPA in Lewisville since they were born. It is a network of doctors and Physician's Assistants that are all fabulous! AND...they have hours 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM on weekdays and on Saturdays until noon. The doctors have all had 20+ years of Pediatric experience and really take the time to sit down and answer your questions and pay attention to your child. We see Dr. Mark Holt mostly but I also really like Dr. Fitzgerald and Dr. Kincaid. They have offices in Lewisville, Flower Mound and Coppell and you can go to any office any time, depending on your schedule or preference. It doesn't hurt to interview them. ###-###-####. Good Luck!

Definitely, Dr. David Goff. The kids love him. He's got kids of his own. He is very thorough. He and the other doctors in his office will have a meeting with you before the baby is born. At least, they did that before my 3 1/2 year old was born. The nurses are great. You can call anytime and talk to someone or they will call you right back. They have a well-child waiting room and a sick waiting room.

Hi A. !!!
Congrats on the soon to be new addition to your family!!!
I take my daughter to Dr Adams & Dr Jones their office is right out side of Denton Presby off of Scrpiture. I like both of the doctors, and their staff very much, they are two young (mid 30's) female doctors and have taken very good care of my daughter since she was born she will be 2 in June. What I really like about their office is they have a six visit time from 8:00-8:30 M-F so I have only had to make a few appointments other than a well visit for my daughter to be seen. Their office number is ###-###-####. Good Luck in your search, I have been in your shoes.

I like Dr. Day too and more importantly, so does my daughter. Dr. Goff did the initial visit in the hospital, but we've seen Dr. Day for every visit since. He's very easy going, but very focused when you have any questions or concerns. I don't feel uncomfortable asking him anything at all. The nursing staff has always been very sweet to my little girl too, even when it's time for shots. I also seem to be in and out pretty quickly and usually don't have problems making/changing appt. I would highly recommend Dr. Day and his staff. I drive from Lewisville too!!

Dr. Geoffrey Day at Cook Children's Physician's Network off of Teasley. He is absolutly wonderful. I have met a lot of parents that also take their children to him. His is very thorough and will tell you the truth. He will also tell you your options if there are any. He also doesn't believe in just throwing medicine at your child just to make you feel better. I completly trust him. I don't believe he would do anything to my child that he wouldn't do to his own.

I am a first time mom to a 6 month old baby boy. I love our pediatrician. I chose him because he was actually the pediatrician of my OBGYN's two boys. His name is Dr. Jeffery Day. There are 4 doctors at the practice and I have heard good things about all of them. The nurses there are great and so far I have had great experiences with them. I like Dr. Day because he is very personable and I like that he has a laid back personality. The office is affiliated with Cook Children's and is located on 3201 Teasley Lane, Suite 102, Denton 76210. The number is ###-###-####. Good luck in your search.

I used Dr. David Goff for about 3 years with my first son. And he was great. When our insurance ended and we found ourselves in a postion were we had to pay for our 2 newborn childs healthcare out of pocket and we had to search for a more inexpensive pedi. We were blessed to find Dr. Thomas Newell. He is a Nurse Practioner but has his own office. We really liked the laid back atmosphere of his office and staff. Just after our first visit the office staff rememebered my name and my children. When I call the office with anything they always know who I am without having to look anything up or calling me back. It is extremely personal attention. He is also practices
homopathic treatment and alternative medicine which I love. It is very normal for him to spend an hour or more with us at our visits. Making sure all questions are answered and we are comfortable with everything. We take all three of our sons there now. He does have seperate sick and well waiting areas. You can usually get in for an appointment within the same hour you call. His fees are extremely well priced. $60 for sick visit and $80 for well child check-up included vaccines. Give them a call at ###-###-####. His is on Primrose right off of University in Denton.

Tom Newell at Family Care Center is a great nurse practitioner (certified pediatric and family). He and his staff are superb. He is very educated with a doctorate and a master homeopathic degree. He is vaccine friendly and uses alternative meds . My whole family sees him for the past 6 years. My kids don't want to leave the office when their done! Very friendly environment.
