Looking for Pediatrician for Alternative Vaccine Schedule

I am in need of suggestions for a pediatrician in the Long Beach area that is open to an alternative vaccine schedule. Due to a change in our insurance coverage we can not keep our current pediatrician. We had to apply for Healthy Families but were told we could only get medi-cal. Which I know is not right because of our income. So I would like to find a doctor that accepts both healthy families and medi-cal, so I don't have to change doctors later when they realize that we do not qualify for medi-cal. I do want my son to get the recommended vaccines just have them spread out not all at once. Any help is appreciated!

What can I do next?

Hi J L
I have a DR who won't come out and say it but he will let you get it at your leisure. That is what we have done. THis is always such a hot topic that gets people riled up. I do not know what insurance the group takes (They are all super excellent there) but call DR. Kaplan in Los Alamitos and check with them.
Good luck! B

try doctor sawsan selem. ###-###-####. 2700 Bellflower Ave. cross street WIllow off the 405 freeway. I know she accepts both and has really helped me with vaccine schedules with my autistic son. SHe is always available and calls me back when I have a question. She is very good about referring us out and getting our insurance to pay for it. I consider her the best doctor we have been to and my kids have been her patient for 6 years now.

Hi J L, We take our toddler to Dr. Alexander Maneffa at
Harriman Jones at the corner of Willow and Redondo in Long
Beach. As far as I know, they accept all types of medical insurance there. We have been very conservative with the vaccine schedule and Dr. Maneffa was suppotive of our decisions and even honored our request to have the MMR separated out.
Dr. Maneffa has been our son's doctor since birth and he has
been wonderful. The phone number there is ###-###-####. good luck and best wishes. R.

some vaccines can not be spread out and you have to have them when the doctor says come back for them if you dont then you have to sstart over again, you can also go to the health dept.. there is a clinic at millers childrens hospital that accepts healthy familes insurance & medical, um healthy famlies is a part of medi-cal.. re-check with the dept of social services about the medi-cal PPO's & HMO's you might not be able to get straight medi-cal but can have a medi-cal hmo instead.

Hi JL,

My children go see Dr. Lourdes Sison. I don't have the address (Corner of Atlantic & San Antonio in Bixby Knolls--directly across from Rite Aide), but her phone is ###-###-####. She's very flexible and the great thing is that we don't have to have appt all the time! She's also open late til 6pm. She accepts both as well. Hope this helps.
