Looking for Non-edible Table Corners

I am looking for some corner cushions for my coffee table. In the past, I have used clear plastic ones and big cushiony ones that my son old used to pull off. Then we found these white plastic ones from KidCo and they worked great until my daugther (now 9 months) learned to pull herself up. She chews on them, and lately she's been getting chunks off. They have to go, but we need something there. Does anyone know of ones that she wouldn't be able to gnaw off pieces of that my older child won't just yank off? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to try the one that goes all around the table. If my 2 year old won't leave that one alone I will have to remove the table. I never would have thought of that. The simplest solutions are the ones you never think of, right? I'm sure they would love that space to run around in anyway!

my parents got this elastic pad that stretches around the entire table. it may work if you are not interested in moving the table
good luck

We put our coffee table away until after they were walking. Now that my boys are 3 and 18 months they like to roll around and play in that floor space. So I do not forsee a coffee table there unless guests come over. If that is not an option for you we use split swimming pool tubes, you know the ones that float. My husband cut them in half and we used double sided tape to stick to the fireplace hearth. The are a bit bulky and colorful but we don't mind and it keeps them safe. Just an idea.

I just did a Healthy Kids Fair today and I was very impressed with a store called Right Start. They have an online store at www.rightstart.com and stores in Naperville and Lombard. The owner, a mom, is very concerned with the safety of the products they carry. I checked the website, and they do have 2 corner guards - both Prince Lionheart brands. You could call the Naperville store at ###-###-#### and ask her the specific question you asked here about those products. Good luck with your search. I think she may be able to help you.

Until your daughter can learn to avoid the corners, put the coffee table away.

hi that is cute, when those teeth are coming in they truly will eat anything. we have the padded piece that fits all the way around the entire table. it is a vinyl material with elastic with foam inside the vinyl. it keeps the kids safe although it is not real attractive but what baby proofing product adds to your decor? what is nice is that it is pretty indestructible and it easily comes off if you are having a baby free party since it isnot attached with sitky stuff just elastic. we got it at babys r us.

T.,

I fully expected this post to be about a dog. Isn't it bizarre how kids can gnaw on everything just like puppies do? my son did this very briefly, but it was a tile top table and he was gnawing on the grout! OH the thought of it sends chills down my spine again!

I suggest removing the table all together for a few weeks, or months. the reason i suggest that, is because 2 yr olds can be so clever - i fear that you won't find anything that he/she won't try to get off. we had to remove the problem and although it was inconvenient, it helped. our table is back now and he doesn't try to eat it anymore :)

I don't know of any, unfortunately. If you're not having any luck, maybe remove the table until she's out of the chewing stage? Just a thought.

I second the 'move the table' suggestion.

When we started having issues, we just relocated the coffee table and the problem went away. Furthermore, we now use the coffee table as a 'baby gate' to block entry to the other half of our living room (it's oddly shaped and no baby gate exists that would block it off).

Move the table and give her room to roam and forget all about the table.

I have seen, I believe at Babies R Us, a cloth, pillowy cushion that you would actually put all the way around your coffee able. It doesn't stick on, it goes on more like a fitted sheet with elastic. I'm not sure it is the most attractive thing around, but neither are most of those corner things. It wouldn't be very hard to sew up either, if you or anyone you know can sew.
