Thanks to everyone for suggestions on a landscaper. We went with Ideal Landscapes out of Ft Worth and unfortunately I'm sad to say they did just OK, we're not thrilled at all with the job that was done. He came out, looked around and gave us a bunch of what seemed like great ideas, however, when he started the job he kept leaving things out, saying they were extra and/or add-ons and we'd have to pay more. Looking at his bid though everything was included and he was trying to charge us extra for things he previously included in the bill. Though we have a lot more landscape and gardening work to be done we'll be looking for someone else to do it. Thanks to everyone for your help!

We used Creative Exteriors (owner Gary Wills) when we redid our landscaping a year ago. He also extended and topped our backyard patio with beautiful flagstone pavers (did an awesome job too). It looks so nice, I now call it my terrace, instead of my patio :) .
He and his team are extremely courteous and professional. Very easy to work with! I found him on the servicemagic website; the ONLY way a service company can be listed with them is if they are bonded and insured.

Are you a member of Angieslist.com? It is a member based referral website. Consumers review businesses and post them for other members to consider. It has the good, the bad and the ugly posted. A business cannot be listed there unless a member writes a review about them. Anyway, I personally am a member and use the website to find my service companies.
