Looking for Ideas for a 5 Year Old Boy's Birthday

Hi. My 5 year old son is having a birthday in September. I am looking for a fun place to have a party near or around Fenton where we live, or some ideas to celebrate at home with about 15 other 5-year olds. Other preschool parents have had parties at Chucky Cheese, the Little Gym and Spirits Gym so we are looking for some other ideas besides these. Reasonably prices would be nice.

What can I do next?

A friend of mine had a little by birthday party at the museum of transport - it is not far from Fenton - it would be different from the usual Chuckee Cheese type stuff. They had a great time.

I take my 3 kids to Monkey Joe's all the time. It is on Watson Rd. I have not done a party there but have seen other kids having parties. They have a large arena area with lots of bounce houses and obstacle courses. they have private rooms for the birthday party.

We went to a party at the Train Museum in Valley Park. The kids loved it. They have a seperate room for parties that has a huge pirate ship and plenty of transportation toys. My son is 4 and he had the best time. You can pick up a brochure at their gift shop or search them online.

We've been to parties at the Museum of Transportation. They have this great room called the Imagination Station (or something like that) that you can rent. There are all kinds of activities and toys to keep the kids busy. They arrange a lunch or snack with a drink with a staff member to oversee things, and cookies or cake. The parties we've been to have been on Saturday mornings. Not sure how much it costs, but it was great fun - for the parents too! Here's their website and number. http://www.museumoftransport.org/creationstation.htm

Hi L.! My nephew went to a pirate party once. The invitations came in little plastic bottles and were so cute. They took pictures of all the kids dressed up like pirates and with a wodden leg. I am going to do this for my son when he is older. Look on family fun.com for other birthday ideas.

Good Luck!

My niece had a party where a lady came to the house. Her theme was a Hawaiian Luau and she also does boy's themes such as Pirate ship etc. She will do girl's tea parties. She was in Kirkwood and unfortunately I do not have her information any longer. My son is a teenager now so that is not a good idea for us any longer! :) You may be able to look it up in the phone book or onine for theme parties. I don't know what you consider reasonably priced but I want to say they were a couple hundred dollars. To me, that is expensive but I don't know what your budget is! Good Luck! :)

Have you thought about renting a bouncing castle or house to be brought to your home for the party. I went to a child's party only back in April and they had a bounce around castle with slide, even some of the parents joined in. I will keep your post and see if I can find out the company they used.

Hey L., have you heard of Swing-Around Fun Town, located in Fenton area, they have minature golf, bumber boats and cars, an arcade inside, it's really nice for a party. Not sure how expensive it might get for 15 little ones. I'm an adult and i really enjoyed out outing, the go carts and minature golf.. they do have a web-site, but google and it should come up. Good Luck, 15 5 year olds, my hats off to you, you are a brave woman..

Depending on how the weather is, this is an idea. We found an inexpensive way to have my six year olds birthday party . We rented a pavillion at one of the parks. It was right next to a playground and kept the kids well entertained. All you have to do is check online at http://www.fentonmo.org for the Fenton parks and call to reserve.

L.,

Off of Highway 30 as you go up to 270 on the right hand side of the road is the Life Cristian Church - in the building on the same campus to the right of the church is a place called Woodys. (www.woodysyfc.com) Anyone can go there rather you are a member of the church or not, anyway it has a pretty neat indoor play ground, a cafe, a small bowling alley and a party area. You can go in there and reserve tables for 10.00. You can also either pay to have the party catered from the cafe' or you can bring your own food and they will even put your ice cream in the freezer. My granddaughter recently had a party there and all of the kids had a great time!

By the way using the playground is free any day - which is great for those rainy, or too hot or cold days that we have in Saint Louis!

The people that run it are great - you can bring your own decorations - or they will even decorate for you.

I hope your son has a great Birthday!

There is a place in Chesterfield Valley called Pump It Up. (www.PumpItUpParty.com) It's full of those inflatable bouncy things. You know the moon walk and slides. It also has an obstacle course and a basketball arena. We had my daughters 7th b-day party there. They have two arenas and the kids spend approx. 45 minutes in each arena then on to the private room for cake, soda and opening presents. They get the mess, you load up your car and head for home!
