Looking for Home Schooling Resources

Hi everyone. I have become very dissatisfied with the direction that public education in this country is heading. Especially since Bush passed his idiotic "No Child Left Behind" act (his heart was in the right place, but the bill is a stinker). I have recently decided that I will home school my children. My oldest son is now in Kindergarten so I will let him finish the school year, but next year, it's school at home. I'm hoping there are at least a few of you out there that can offer me some advice about home schooling and resources for parents who do so. I'd also like to find out if there are any socialization groups around here for home schooled children. I know there are back home in Oregon, but we're new to this area and I don't know what's available. Thanks for any advice you can offer! :)

What can I do next?

I am in Ashburn and I know quite a few people in Leesburg who homeschool- I'll try to find out what I can from them so that I can give you better information.

A resource for homeschooling materials is at www.paperbackswap.com You post and mail out your books (or buy credits) and other people send you stuff you choose from the 'library' of posted materials. There are a lot of homeschooling books/etc on the site, and a whole forum for homeschoolers in the Forum section of the site.

HTH, Good luck!
