I found that Craigs list usually has great deals. Besides the household goods category look in the free catagory. You would be amazed at what people just want to get rid of and want hauled off. Good luck.
We're moving into a new house and wanted to know if anyone knew of a place where I can find really good deals on furniture, indoor blinds/shutters, and home decor.

You might try Habitat for Humanity's Home Improvement Outlet stores. It's always hit or miss with them, but they get some cool stuff (area builders often donate extras and model home items). I got a really cool iron light fixture there last year for $100 (I would have paid $300 or more retail). I've been to the one in Dallas, and they also have one in Garland. I've also heard they have one in Denton. Here's the Dallas website: http://dallas-habitat.org/outlet/index.php
Years ago, when I was working in North Dallas (near 635 and Midway) there were a bunch of stores in the warehouse district just north of there (McEwen Rd., etc.). Some were regular furniture outlets (Haverty's, Gabberts, etc.) Others were stores that sold the model home furniture and accessories dirt cheap. I got lots of artwork and lamps this way. I don't know if they're still there. You might be able to ask around.
Good Luck! And Congratulations on the new home!

I love Pier One!!
The Dump has some cool stuff (never been there, but have heard its great)
Good luck!
We just put in plantation shutters and blinds in our house and used Blinds Express. ###-###-####. They are really nice and an awesome price!! My husband and I just bought a lot of furniture lately and have shopped alot for good deals and quality furniture. We have found some nice stuff at the Dump. It's also hit or miss but worth going out there a few times. We also found some furniture that was more expensive but we would find it online for a cheaper price and with free shipping. I suggest you find something you like and look up the manufacturer online.
I would hit Marshall's or Ross for home decor, The Colony Resale (5000 Main St Suite 210) will occasionally have some really nice furniture at affordable prices. Havertys donates their returned furniture to them. Another one of my favorite places for furniture is Weir's. There is one in Plano at Spring Creek and Preston. Make sure you go upstairs to their bargain room. That is where my husband and I went to furnish our house. Good prices and nice quality.
Try Furniture Buy Consignment on Main St in Frisco.
On the tag is 3 prices; Starting price, and then the prices reduce by date. It's a gamble if you are going for lowest price, but I find an item I like and make note of the date the price is going down and then head back, and often it is still there. If not, the first price is still 30-50% off of new. If you don't see it. Ask. Once I went back after a few weeks after the last date, and my item was still there, but they had pulled off the floor since it hadn't moved, and it was in storage. What they don't sell, they eventally donate.
Go online and try Craig's list or Frisco On-line. Yes, there is plenty of crappy furniture on it. But with everyone downsizing, plenty of homes are unloading excess furniture that is very nice.
Hobby Lobby has tons of very inexpensive home decor also.
Wier's furniture has a pretty good Clearance Dept upstairs.
I know a lady that makes window treatment for really good prices. I will have 10 bids and do all the research of their work before I decide on using people to do anything in my house. I get all kinds of prices. so here is her number Cindy ###-###-####. I have some painters, faux painters, cabinet maker(any woodwork.
tell her you got her you are V.'s friend that lives in murphy so she will give you good prices (like mine)
we really like Weir's...they have a clearance center which is hit or miss...but when you hit; it's a jackpot! Also, Kirkland's home has some decent decorating stuff that is VERY reasonable.
There are many, many consignment stores around that have all different kind of things.
Besides consignment shops, check out Ikea in Frisco. They're got fantastic prices! Just went there yesterday and bought 3 sets of shelves for my office for $160. Awesome! They have EVERYTHING for a home -- furniture, decor and necessities that you need -- both inside and out. Congrats and happy shopping!
My favorite...Horchow Finale! They have home decor, furniture, tableware, linens, bedspreads, light fixtures, etc.
try T.'s Discount Floors they also carry Blinds & shutters
