Hi

My name is Rosy and I just move to Dallas from Los Angeles, CA and just found out that I am pregnant. I am looking for a doctor in the Dallas area that performs or is OK with VBAC's (vaginal birth after c-section) since I've had a c-section but I just refuse to have another one if it's not necessary.
I've found that most(if not all) do not take patients who want to VBAC and I've been thinking of going back to California only to deliver since I've spoken to my old doctor and I know he will take me for VBAC but it's a long way only to deliver then come back here.

Please help! I've been calling almost all the doctors and they don't know who to refer me to but I'm sure there's got to be someone out there that has gone through the same that migth have found that perfect doctor.

What can I do next?

My wonderful OB is open to whatever the patient request. She and her practice partner are amazing. They have delivered all of this generation in our large family. Try Dr. Carol Norton at Women's Health Associates in Richardson - she offices & delivers at Richardson Regional Medical Center at 75&Campbell.

Hi Rosy,

Welcome to Dallas! : )
My OB GNY will do VBAC's and he's located in Dallas at the Presbyterian of Dallas Hospital. Presby is a great place to have a baby at and Dr. Griffith will take excellent care of you!
His name is Clark Griffith and I've been a patient of his for over 7 years now.
I'm due to deliver my third in April and he'll be doing a c-section on me (my own personal choice) but said he will most certainly do a VBAC if I prefer.

His number is ###-###-#### and his nurse's name is Monica. Good luck to you and let me know if you have any questions.

I will have to second Clark Griffith. He's a great doctor. I could also recommend Ronald Bristow. He's wonderful and kind and open minded and really laid back. He's a good man to have a baby with.

Try your local Baylor hospital. I know that many Baylor facilities accept VBAC (Baylor Irving does). You can call their number and ask specifically for a doctor that accepts VBAC patients. Call 1-800-4BAYLOR or visit www.baylorhealth.com

It is definitely more difficult to get a VBAC in the Dallas area than in many other parts of the country. There are, however, certain doctors who are more likely to be patient with having a VBAC than others, and also certain hospitals where you are more likely to find success than others.

Here are links to the state website which show which hospitals have which success rates for VBAC. You will notice that many of our area hospitals have less than 10% success rate for VBAC, which will bring home to you how very much you must be willing to advocate for yourself and choose your care provider carefully.

Also, I am unsure if you are aware that we have an area ICAN meeting (the national ICAN site is:
http://www.ican-online.org/ )
The next meeting of ICAN of N TX is going to be on Tuesday, if you want to attend. Feel free to contact me for more information.

Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!
