Looking for Consignment Store to Sell Gently Used Clothing Successfully

I am looking for suggestions of consignment shops or places where I can sell my gently used, yet fabulous looking clothes. I was formerly a size 2-4 and I have some great work clothes. I know I can donate, but I wanted to see where I can possibly get some cash for it. I've had successful garage sales, but I could use the space immediately.

Scout out local PTO's and find out who is having the next clothing resale some give 50/50 all the way up to 75% back to you. You price the clothes and choose if they go half price at the end of the sale to get "Rid" of them. You support the school and get some money back. They do have some rules to follow, but there are plenty of them starting with Hoover-Wood in Batavia Valentines weekend. There are quite a few coming up so either go online or call schools and ask for their PTO chair to see whats up.

Consignment shops don't give you much for your clothes. On the other hand schools in the western suburbs , such as Edgewood holds a clothing resale twice a year . Your get 70% of the sale the school gets the other 30. They will be having one in sping and they do one for the fall and winter clothes also. It's also a great place to buy clothes. They are never stained and inspected twice before shelfing.

Clothes Mentor is great, but they are very picky. Clothes must be less than 2 years old and must meet their brand name requirements. They do take maternity, but they don't take formal wear. They have three locations now: Naperville, Schaumburg, and Orland Park. Another great place is in Bloomindale called Walk-In-Closet (http://www.walk-in-closet.com/). They do take formal wear, but they are picky too. I think you need to make an appointment there, but at Clothes Mentor you can just walk in. Good luck.

"My Favorite Things" In Westmont on 63rd and Cass Ave. They have many brand name clothes, purses etc. the consign. The stuff they carry is in great condition. I've purchased many things there and have been very happy.

There's Second Hand Rose in downtown Wheaton. Besides that, I only know of shops where you donate the clothing - Wise Penny in Wheaton, a place on Geneva and President whose name I can't remember and another place at Geneva and Main by the Office Depot.

There is a place in Naperville (near fox valley mall), called Clothes Mentor. They are like a once upon a child or Plato's Closet, but for adults.
